The greatest thing in tennis since 2 years !!

Yea, maybe the ATP can be like the WTA and not have any great players, just good players and no one stays at number one longer than a few months! Nobody like to see a Sampras or Borg or Federer be a true champion of the sport.

I get your sarcastic remark. However, when you think about it, there will be no great players if Fedal wins all the slams. There will be only 2 great players.

It has been great to see Djok's level today, because it feels like one of the reason he is playing so well are Federer and Nadal, but Federer mostly so.

All the players needed to up their level to be competitive against Federer and this is starting to pay off, from a general tennis fan perspective.

I found Djok 's game today very high level and very enjoyable.

I enjoyed it too. I said so multiple times in the match thread. It was a great match to watch.

But EVERY sport benefits from having it's superstars that remain at the absolute top of their game for an extended period of time.

Yes, I'm so happy. Even if it wasn't Djoko in the finals but let's say Murray and Berdych, I would still be happy, it's really boring when you see Fedal dominating every slam.. (with all respect)

id rather have two great players rule the game, because it raises the level tremendously of the rest of the field. or like that poster said, you can have the ATP turn into the WTA. luckily we will be having dimitrov and berankis soon :)

or in other terms: the second time in the last 24 slams we have a player not named nadal or federer in the final.

if you think about it, this is crazy.

Holmes: Would have loved for Roger to have gone on for a 17th, but said to Watson last week that Fedal wouldn't not take the title. I agree billnepill, it's great that the final will be a battle between someone else for a change, it had to happen sometime. NOT that it means we won't see Fedal back again, but what the heck, let's start the change of the guard sooner rather than later.

Watson: What's more, we really don't mind WHO wins it now, all the guys left are great players playing at a good level. I think the Murray vs Djoker final would hold better tennis than if Ferrer gets through, but that isn't to say we don't want him to win tomorrow and get through.

May the best man win, as happened today!

I'm certain it's the Jokerray era.

Murrovic or Jokerray, I don't think we'll be seeing either player with regularity at slam finals. One will tank beforehand, and the other will retire due to something a sore throat, or a mosquito bite. :D

jk, I'd like to see more of them too

You have to think all the ATP players watching both Nadal and Fed get knocked out were standing and clapping infront of their TV sets.

Neither Fed, nor Nadal in GS final.

Hope that happens more often from now on!

It is a breathe of fresh air, isn't it. As the old saying goes, variety is the spice of life. Seeing the same players make it to the finals gets boring for me anyhow. This is a very exciting AO. Looking forward to a great final.

^^^ This ...

... plus, some of what has made AO 2011 interesting is a glimpse of the future provided by a couple of unseeded players who each took out a couple of seeds:

Raonic took out Llodra (#22) and Youzhny (#10)

Dolgopolov took out Tsonga (#13) and Soderling (#4)

Hopefully, both of these relative newcomers will continue their success in 2011 :)
