The next generation is here

With Khachanov, Thiem, and Zverev in the quarters of the French, and Tsitsipas giving Stan what may well be his last great match, this looks like a turning point for the next generation of players. I see these four regularly contesting for majors very soon.

If Zverev or Khachanov beats Djoker or Nadal, sure. But we already had Thiem beat Djoker at RG and reach the finals. Tsits already beat a defending champ at AO. Nadal has lost to some of the young guns.

However, they need more than just Thiem on clay and a few big wins here and there. I do think Tsits will be a threat a Wimbledon and US open (maybe Khachanov too?). But to me, turning a corner is winning and reaching slam finals. Sure, they are getting closer, but at such a slow rate that the big 3 (Djoker and Nadal mainly) still will be clear favorites and likely take the next 4 to 5 slams.

I mean, you could look at it that way.... but Fedalovic can only take up three spots in the quarter finals so there were always going to be 5 other guys take up those spots. They may have arrived as the new gatekeepers but they have far from arrived. After all these years the top three in the rankings are still Djokovic, Nadal and Federer

Nobody of them has a chance as long as all of the Big 3 are still there.

- Thiem could be a contender at RG if Nadal isn’t there one year, but still Nadal is far away from being the only one who could beat him.
- Tsitsipas can have a great match here and there, and I wouldn’t rule out single match victories over a Big 3 player (like Federer in Australia), but he can also lose to anyone. He will win Slams in the future though.
- Zverev and Khachanov have no chance whatsoever. In fact Zverev is in a free fall. This RG he was lucky as hell, but I’m sure Wimbledon (and also other tournaments) will see him going out very early again.

Let's quantify this: one of these four - Khachanov, Thiem, Tsitsipas, or Zverev - will win at least one of the next four majors.

That seems like a worthy prediction
I guess I will consider the dominance of The Big 3 over when there is a year, perhaps two in a row, when they collectively win fewer than two of the majors.
