This Australian Open has marked a real turning point in the attitude of the umpires and the crowd toward nadal. It seems the umpires have talked on some level and are no longer going to tolerate the excessive time wasting and admittedly less common in match coaching that nadal receives
Last nights match was also noteworthy for the fact that nadal was booed by the Australian crowd - a crowd that is usually amongst his most supportive.
Regardless of whether he was injured or not and if so how badly he was injured( that is another debate) he was booed because the crowd did not believe him - they felt he was cheating.
Choosing to take A MTO before your opponents serve is considered extremely bad sportsmanship. it was also interesting to see some nadal fans commenting on the match thread last night that they felt extremely uncomfortable with Nadals behvaiour given his play in the following set.
Let's hear it nadal fans did last nights match make you re-evealuate your thoughts on nadal as far as sportsmanship goes?
Do you think the umpires are going to be increasingly tough on him regarding his time wasting, on court coaching , strategic use of MTO'S etc?
Was this Aust open the tipping point for many in their view of nadal?
