Thiem did not approach the AO final in a positive way

after his victory over zverev in the semis, he told the crowd how he had to play all time greats in all 3 slam finals and tried to make an excuse in advance if he loses......that’s not the right mindset and i think it proved quite bad in the end......who did he expect in the final? fucsovics?

djoko gifted him two sets, instead of fighting like hell breaking loose in the 4th, he could not stop returning the favour by donating the 4th......he was mentally finished, the look on his face was quite bizarre even when he was leading 2-1 sets......i don’t think he really believed deep down that he was winning today......

as a side note, this should go down as one of the worst 5 set final in the history of grand slams......just poor quality from both players written all over it......

Well I guess I know little about tennis but I just watched my recording of the first set, and the tennis seemed outstanding to me. Perhaps you are a Rafa or Roger fan?

As much as Novak's overconfidence rubbed me the wrong way back in the 07-10 days, it was still better than how today's players approach matches.

Roger & Rafa were already legends and he didn't give 2 s**ts about that. He believed his best tennis could beat their best.
