Lastly, I haven’t seen the ‘Nicolas Massu Argument’ levied yet but it rears it’s ugly head in every Olympic tennis debate. The idea that a lesser player winning a tournament reduces its prestige is illogical. If it were valid we could use that argument to crap on every long lasting tournament in the history of the sport.

It's not only illogical, but it actually defeats the agenda of belittling the Olympic tennis tournament.

Anyone who watched Massu and Gonzalez in Athens, or Puig in Rio, would have seen how the passion of representing their nation in the greatest sporting event on the planet took them to another level of inspiration which they never found before or after.

Massu and Puig winning Gold Medals isn't a "bug" of the tournament, it's a feature!

He only beat Djokovic once to reach a slam final in a match where Novak was barely trying

And Murray beat exhausted Joe in 2013 Wimbly and vultured the USO 2012 in hurricane like conditions. What's your point? He beat the guy twice at the slams, that's what counts. As I said, Mugvis Cup>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Olympic exho. No one gave a sh*t about it until one UK guy won it, lol. Yeaah, that's not hype.

Exactly right. They both beat the same guy twice at the Slams and that's what counts.

Ummm nope, plenty of sh*t was given when one Spain guy won it 4 years earlier. That's not hype either.

Nah, Ned Winning Wimbledon was waaaaay more relevant. You're basically proving my point: XYZ player from XYZ country wins it, what do they say? " Ooooh this is better than bagging a slem!" Yeah, I don't buy it. Same thing with Murray. His two slams on grass>>>>>>>>>>>>>his OGs.
