tighter angles with 2HB

people were so helpful on getting tighter angles on forehand.

i was wondering if we can have tips on better angles with 2HB...

it seems with 2HB, you don't have the same freedom with the wrist that you have with the forehand. basically easy with forehand to place the racquet many different ways on the ball.

how do people get great angles with 2HB... BTW, a woman that hingis beat at AO (she was beating hingis in first set - from germany??) had amazing angles on her 2HB (never seen anything like that). NOT patty schnyder (i know she isn't german or beaten by martin BUT i thought she'd be suggested.

1. To get sharp angles on 2-handed BH, hit forehands with your left hand.

2. Practice short cross-court angles .. between the ad service boxes.

3. Have a partner or coach feeds you balls to your 2-handed BH: You return the first deep cross court, the second medium cross court, and the third sharp-angled cross-court.

Just practicing these situations will empower you to hit acute cross courts in match situations. In a double handed backhand, the left arm plays a greater role in angled cross courts that's why it's important you hit lefty forehands if you are right-handed player.

Good drills Mahboob.
It's also helpful if you can practice hitting the outside of the ball with topsin, which helps impart acute angles and brings the ball down.

Use the nondominant hand to shape and control the ball. You can create any angle with a 2HBH, I don't know why people think there is more versitality in a OHBH.

freedom, with all due respect, it doesn't feel to me like you can get great freedom with 2HB... you're comparing to OHBH, i guess i'm comparing to forehand.

i don't remember too many crazy angles with either backhand. most of the really amazing angles are with the forehand i think.... when i say "crazy angles", i mean "how did he/she do that?"

good advice on practicing FH's with your off-hand.

If you can get good angles with your forehand, then you can also do so with your 2-handed backhand because your left hand is in a forehand position! Food for thought! That's why it is important to involve your non-dominant hand as well and to this effect I suggested you hit lefty forehands.

For sharp angles I use my wrists more. The wrists are a key to hitting sharp angles or changing direction on the ball for 2HB. Some players have an extremely dominant tophand and can really come up the ball with the tophand and create angles. But many 2HB players use the two wrists equally for sharp angles.
