To all who think Federer's form gives him a chance

Going into their 2012 AO encounter, Federer was on a 25-match winning streak and had not dropped a set the entire tournament (he thrashed Del Potro in the quarters) and was favored to win the match by the bookies and Nadal still won in 4 sets.

Form won't have any bearing on the result. Now thank me later when you win money after betting on Nadal:cool:

Already did, massive amount, tomorrow i can buy a second hand car :)

It's not just Fed's form. It's that combined with Nadal's lack of form/blister problem, combined with the fact that the court is playing faster than 2012 so the ball to Fed's backhand isn't going to bounce too high. It's going to be a close match and could go either way.

I think the bounce issue is over-exaggerated. The ball is still going to kick up at Fed's one handed backhand and tie him up. Nadal's "lack of form" is what one match, maybe two? He was superb against Monfils. The blisters seem fine and he was practising without plasters on today.

I just think this is a match Fed can't win. He hasn't beaten Rafa in a slam for over 6 years. This is arguably peak Rafa now and way off peak Fed. Not going to happen.

Fed's game is looking sharp and 'complete' - you can see the confidence in the way he's "releasing" on his backhand.

Fed in 4 (possibly 3 if Rafa falls behind 0-2 in sets).

Even thought Nadal own's Federer in slams, I still think Federer's got a chance tomorrow. Nadal isn't playing out of this world tennis, with the blisters and all. Federer on the other hand is playing very well. He's got a new racquet, more pop, his defence has improved a lot on both wings, he goes to the net more. Rafa might have a tough time adjusting to Fed 2.0, and I'm pretty sure Roger will have a new strategy against Nadal thanks to Edberg.

Yes. He has had a "lack of form" for two matches. The problem is that the blister is causing that lack of form, and it's only going to be worse tonight. The court speeds are not exaggerated as Murray's average height to Fed's BH last year was 37 inches and this year was only 32 inches. That's significant.

Oddsmakers now have Nadal at -165. I think that's about right. He's a slight favorite, but neither is in their prime. Roger's prime was 09ish; Nadal's was 2010.

If Fed has a great night of serving, closed roof, attacks the backhand, stays aggressive, keeps the rallies short things will be interesting.

Agree. I think Nadal will win the AO and Roland Garros, and at least one of the remaining majors this year. It's entirely possible that he could complete the first Grand Slam since Laver did it in '69. I think that he will eventually pass Federer in slam titles, and be regarded as the greatest player of all time.

Nadal wins 100% sure.

Yes, it will very likely be close, but those are the matches Federers tends to lose and Nadal always wins.

Federer had huge chances to win/put himself ahead in the AO 2012 match. His form in that tournament was electric. That should go down as one of the biggest chokes of his career IMO.

Roger's prime was 2003-2010 or you could even include 2011 and 2012 and Nadal's prime is 2005 to now.

After the loss. Fed lost to isner in DC only to go on a great run again after That. Lost something like twice in 10 tournaments. Tells the story really.

The rallies will be short for sure. Nadal will pass Federer at net or Federer will spray balls.

Once you lot take your heads out of your rear ends, you'll come to the realization that Fed has just a as much chance of winning this match as Rafa does.

Fed's gonna win it. The court is fast enough to make Nadal hopeless from time to time.

Edberg is the factor when it comes to tactics and mental attitude.

Well, he's been there and he's a very smart guy.

Hopefully Fed's gonna hit all Nadal's serves to his backhand on the rise, and if Fed's gonna miss some of those, whatever, just keep it going and ofc time to time run around to smash FH.

Can't wait that match :)

Well, Federer will have a "sporting chance" if he serves well and has a good backhand night. There have been times, especially indoors, where Federer just seems to have Nadal's rhythm down and looks comfortable handling his serve and the CC forehand.

But if not, he's obviously toast.

I'm not under any illusions, can't see Federer beating. Nadal.

Of course, I might be wrong. 3 sets against TWS+ 2 sets against Andy was something.

And I honestly think that Fed didn't choked, Andy played so much better after that double bounce. He just got angry and played very well the end of the 3. set.
