When I was a sophomore in high school I played a guy on his way to Stanford. I won one game. Whammy. Happens :-|
I did break his serve, however. Holler!
Cool, i'll try to do well in my watch tomorrow.
Most guys in high school try to hit too flat, with not enough margin for error. Hitting 3-6 feet over the net (not 1-2) will allow your shots to hit deeper and more consistently.
Yea, my goal is to hit with topspin. A lot of players just get effed up by it and the flat ball isn't really needed at times.
Depth is an odd problem in dubs. When are you hitting short and how is this hurting you? Is it on returns?
Short dipper shots can work great to the right spots.
Don't hit too many groundstroke rallys, just chip and get to the net when you can.
Yea, but when I did hit deeper, it put pressure on them from back there. It's one of my main problems.
Are you sure you lost just because you (and your partner) weren't getting the ball deep enough? Just asking...
In doubles if I see this score it's usually because:
a) Serving was weak
and/or
b) Vollying was weak
I've never been double bageled before <knocks on wood> but if it happened in a doubles match something has to be wrong with 'a' and 'b' above.
No, that's not the only problem. These guys were very good players at a 3rd doubles spot. This team is the powerhouse of our conference, they're a dynasty. Hitting deep is one of my main problems.
Today however, we had an informal practice, and I was hitting with my ntour opposed to my rdx and the serve head speed felt faster. I thought I was hitting better today. I'll warmup with both racquets before my match to see which feels best.
