Took off the bumper guard, but can't it to sit properly again, help?

Hello, this is going to sound dumb, hopefully you guys can help?

So I took the bumper guard off of my blx90's to put some lead underneath the bumper guard, at 12 o'clock.

I have seemingly put the bumper guard back in place but I don't think it's sitting plush with the frame itself. Every once in while, I can hear something "loose" when I hit. I can hear it in all 4 of my frames so I'm ruling out cracked frames, and I'm pretty sure it's because the bumper guard is not snapped in place like it was from factory. Thus vibrating on its own and I can hear the "loose"ness.

So, aside from taking a hammer (which I can't imagine it'll be good for the frame anyway), and hammering the bumper guards firmly in place, plush with the racquet. How do guys snap it back in place?

The sound is really annoying me. Thanks!

Most people advise that there's no alternative to buying and seating new grommets.

Apparently Federer has his bumper guard cut at 12 so lead can be inserted easily.

Take it to a stringer, he'll fix it up for you. Same thing happened to me and he fixed it right up again. Tip him a buck then give his buttocks a quick smack.

I was afraid anyone would say that :(

I'll do that, but I distinctly remember hearing the local stringer warning me NOT to remove the bumper guards because he too, could never get them to sit properly ever again.

There will be no smackage of the buttocks however.

I took out the grommets on my Prestige MPs and found that I couldn't put them back in again - something to do with the tieoffs on the long tubes that can't be reinserted. So I ordered new grommets from TW. I also tried this with a Radical MP and I was able to get the bumper back on with the help of pliers and an awl. There are no bumper replacements available retail for those frames so getting new ones wasn't an option.

In general, if you take them off, be prepared to buy new ones.

Unless they are near enough new (strung once for a couple of days - not pre strung, forget it) the grommets flare at the end and are near on impossible to get seated properly. I have had limited success with sanding these couple of grommets down but of course, then they do start to vibrate any ways. Do yourself a favour and replace them. The rackets will feel like new again.

Looks like I'll be buying 4 new bumper guards.

The grommet/bumper guard as a whole on the BLX90 is stupid soft! On thicker strings (I use 15L Gaucho stuff, the ends are usually a LOT thicker due to their lack of quality control, which is why they're so cheap :) ), it can be a pain to push the thicker string through the grommet.

Or when I take it out to trim it, I end up yanking the entire grommet out and I have to spend a good amount of time to re-seat them :(.
