TW Fantasy Tennis - Match 5 - Miami

Hello all and welcome to the 5th match of our TW Fantasy Tennis Season! This match will involve only the Miami Masters 1000 event.

ANNOUNCEMENT: For this match, players will choose 1 player ranked between 1-15, one player ranked 16-30, one player ranked 31-45, one player ranked 46-60, and one player ranked 61 and above.

Please refer to the live tennis rankings when selecting your players.
http://live-tennis.eu/

Here is the selection order for this match.

Please refer to the entry list when selecting players. NOTE THAT THE RANKINGS ON THE ENTRY LIST AREN'T THE ONES TO USE TO SELECT PLAYERS, BUT THE LIVE RANKINGS POSTED ABOVE ARE.

If there are any questions, feel free to post, otherwise, good luck to all! :)

My matches for the whole circuit are as follows:
1. 2 v 5
2. 1 v 2
3. 10 v 4
4. 8 v 5
5. 7 v 2
6. 6 v 10
7. 5 v 1
8. 4 v 3
9. 3 v 1
10. 2 v 10
11. 1 v 4
12. 10 v 1
13. 9 v 1
14. 8 v 5
15. 7 v 2
16. 6 v 10
17. 5 v 1

Why do I play as the lower seed in so many matches? (11 of 17 matches I pick later then my opponent)

Why do I play #1s so much? (5 times in 17 events)

Is this normal? Completely random?

Also, I average picking 5.52/10, which isn't bad, but when I play the #1 five times it doesn't help much :(

Just venting ;)

Its not just you I made a similar oberservation. I think I play a higher picker then myself 12 times if I looked right. Yes it is the nature of a random rotation but at the sme time that suggests some people never play the number 1 selector..oh well its just a game

Can anyone else get the entry list to work? I click on it and get a white screen saying service is unavailable.

Also...using the live rankings..I dont mind it but after we pick theh should be our picks even if the live rankings change as we had the issue of them changing and making us change consequentially last time.

Working fine for me.

Shouldn't be an issue this time w/ less players playing challengers. The only player who can move is Isner and he's in the 1-15 range regardless.

I made the schedule before I made the random order. I used the template of the format from my fantasy football leagues, where you play most people twice with the exception of a few.

For the record here's the record for the people that picked first
Match 1: 3-1-1
Match 2: 4-1
Match 3: 1-3-1
Match 4: 4-1
Overall: 12-6-2

Obviously it's an advantage to pick before your opponent but this also suggests that it's not cut and dry an automatic win. Also just like in real sports some teams play an easier schedule than others. It's just the nature of the beast, no malice was intended when I made this trust me I'm not smart enough to rig the game in my favor.

Obviously in these bigger events it's a greater advantage to pick earlier and get one of the big 4 (or so I thought before Murray trolled me in IW). But like I said, it's part of the game and to that point it was my Nalbandian and Dolgo picks that bailed me out when Nalby went down. So you not only have to pick the best top players, but trust in your lower players to make some runs to compliment them.

I'm in a tournament this weekend and I have at least two matches today, so will probably need my 12 hours after Federnadal makes their selections...

purespin - just noticed Ljubicic isn't in the draw at all. He had said that he was retiring and would be skipping IW/Miami. So you have to pick someone else between 31-45 for your team.

Also Petzchner withdrew so if you want to pick someone who's playing tomorrow for your 61+ pick, feel free.

I may be wrong, but I think you forgot to take Nadal's bagel of Giraldo into account. That'd put seffina at 9, not 11. Not sure I have the whole picture, but it seems this way to me.

Actually Purespin can have GGL, his first match just won't count for his team. His matches from here on out will be counted (i.e. his match today w/ Troicki)

I think Benneteau is the only guy 31-45 available that isn't chosen by someone else and isn't eliminated. Unless you object, I'll give him to you since it was partially my oversight for not seeing Youzhny out of the draw.

I'll take him i guess lol
Rather a shot at at least 1 win then a gauranteed zero
I shoulda paid way more attention to the draw myself and noticed earlier. Oh well only a game.

Is Wawrinka out of the tournament as well...if so I was a real idiot with 2 of my picks HAHA
Don't know what the deal with Wawrinka is. He was / is listed as a player entered in the tournament, but he wasn't in the draw. Not an idiot move on your part, he's just not playing. I can't find any news about it...

Well I had good reasons for picking him them he just disappears and no explanation as to why. Unless he caught the virus in IW or something. Anyway I need a miracle from Rafa and another win from Benne now LOL

I dunno, Rafa should get to the finals (that's 4 (?) more wins) and if they are all in 2 sets than that's 3 points each time. You're still in very good shape :)
