TW Launches The Vintage Playtest

I know you guys are all lovers of the game and this morning while swinging one of my many vintage frames i had an idea.

Wouldn't it be cool if members could send you their vintage frames from the 80's and 90's (or even earlier) to play test and video review. I think a lot of members would really enjoy this, and perhaps you guys as well.

I have the following frames:

Head PT630 Made in Austria
Wilson PS85 St Vincent
Head Radical Tour MP (Bumblebee and Zebra)
Head Radical Tour OS (Bumblebee)
Wilson PS88

given the requests to review frames actually sold here, I think most people here would be more interested in that (reviewing more current models) than reviews of things not sold here.

Cool idea? No, just mediocre at best. The racquets won't be relevant to what most people want so we can't relate, and we already see TW testers play a lot. TW is not in the Youtube business, after all.

Vintage platest will boost tw sales how exactly?

Playtests are made for a reason, not for the fun of it.

Hey what about the new Rf85 and the fake wood racquet? Thise are current "vintage"
Frames that tw could sell

Are you serious? Are you really putting the random old sticks OP mentioned on the same level as RF cashcow 85?

Nevermind. I misread and didnt see the sticks listed. Its a nonstarter given the scarcity, different productions and usage. Though i bet that cash cow gets reviewed!

We did review the Snauwaert Brian Gottfried when we had good stock in our Bosworth Collection:

No point in TW putting time, effort and money into a video review series on racquets they do not have stock of to sell.

Not a bad idea and maybe TW could do a review of different generations of the same frame and make comparisons between then and now since its a topic that regularly gets discussed in the forums.

I think some of the play testers are fans of the history of the game and everything isn't geared towards sales. Obviously TW is a business but TW has also created an amazing community by establishing and moderating the Forum section.

The use of the TW forums is a great vehicle for users to discuss many many aspects of the game, past, present and future.

The Forum section is not a sales generating portal on the site and I believe it was not intended to do so.

To me TW is about the overall game of tennis.....................far far more than just sales and reviews of current frames.

If you only are interested in reviews of modern currently available frames you can easily find that information. What I have suggested would not lessen, infringe or eliminate those reviews. It's about enriching what is already present, If time permits.

Obviously TW can decide what they have time to do.

Actually, the racquets in the videos they are putting out now will eventually be sort of vintage in 20 years, in a sense they are kind of doing it...
K six one tour is more than 10 years old already!
