would that be blasphemy?!?

my aging eyes have trouble picking up the ball on red clay, especially if the camera angle is too high!

instead of the normal yellow, how about a more greenish yellow...or, wait for it, a pale blue would offer excellent contrast!

just do it already

What they really need to do is play all clay tournies at altitude and dye the clay blue! Easier to see, more aggressive play and Fed gets to 110 next year!

Penn released a blue ball for prostate cancer and it ended up being dark and drab. Hard to play with and ugly.

The official ball color is Optic Yellow...as in yellow.

The right answer (y).

https://thesimpsonian.com/29079/sports/column-what-color-are-tennis-balls/

“Yellow and white are the only colors approved by the ITF, and most balls produced are a fluorescent yellow known as optic yellow,” from the International Tennis Federation website.

The optic yellow color was first introduced in 1972 after research demonstrated the color was more visible on television. Makes sense. If the viewer can’t see it how can someone playing the sport see the ball?

Actually a few years ago - in 2012, the year of blue clay, Barcelona open had the idea of playing with blue balls (lol) but they dropped the idea after heavy criticism.

Let's keep all proposed changes to clay events until after Rafa retires please. This includes but is not limited to:

  • roofs
  • colour of the clay
  • increasing the altitude
;)

You will not believe it, I was thinking the same thing while watching Rome masters. It's not a HD TV and it's very difficult to watch the ball. At times, I have to check the score to know who won the point, when balls go close to the line.

I really was feeling bad. Blue should be better

Can’t you adjust the color settings on your television?

I don’t think they actually expect anyone to watch clay court tennis so it really doesn’t matter
You are hilarious but the OP has a valid question. It sucks when you have a problem with your eyesight and you can't see the ball. No matter that I have the 'best TV, whatever', I'm struggling when I watch clay matches sometimes. Well, I'm an old fart I guess .

i don't have a problem with my eyesight.

there is just not enough contrast between a yellowish ball and bright red/orangish clay!
