nice one kyle, its written in black and white.
Lets get something straight. To my knowledge, noone but gta looks at the dynamic number. Local league coordinator (LLC) will accept greivances and will see all. Bottom line todd was a voluntary coordinator. He had no access to the ratings, maybe a list of 3.75 ratings. Did not get paid. Had a few fits dued to competition or poor play within oneself. People making this situation out to be bigger than it is. I dont see why people are saying, if you are a coordinator you have a better chance winning. Look under his name under tennis link and see how many leagues he has won. Not saying hes not a good player but, its in black and white. Winning has to do with a team. Last time i check you had to win 3 out of 5 individual matches to win match. Coordinators and captains have something in common. Dont get paid, cant please everyone, lets get to that dont get paid thing again.

I do believe our usta system is a little whacked. It really sets us for failure. you pay all that money to play, and then if you play too good, you lose your money and you either get bumped or dqed before or after season. Instead of complaining here, gta should know your opinions. Other states are winning sectional and national chps because they are not as strict as us. Our players are not making it to state or section bc our system at ga is too strict. Our local league is weak. One thing i do agree with freak guy. Its hard to stay down 4.0 or 3.5. You might have a few ringers on the team that dont belong but, someone is doing the same thing in another city or state. Their association is letting them through the system, but ga will not let you have that player in sectional or state, or national. A person used to have to sit out 5 years to get your rating down. I know gta or mr bain is trying to make the system better. I know its hard to please everyone. I reassure the system is getting better, until i get bumped up, they i think the system will blow. If you dont play league, call gta they should bumped a slight portion of your rating down. (if you dont play that season at that level). Each season you dont play, or a season that does not have your level, call gta, ask for reduction. Its little, but its better than playing higher level and lose a purpose. I have better things to do with my time. Some people do lose on purpose or pad games. Until the system changes this will always happen. If the system does not change, it will happen.

tony hernandez whats going on with the insults again. Its time to move on buddy. Bad looks would only get you so far. Move forward. Lets talk about something new. You sound like a brady bunch movie.

I dont know why anybody would be upset getting bumped up. Doesnt just mean you will be playing with a little stronger players that will give you more competitve matches. If you are playing 3.0 and win less then half your matches they are not moving you up. If you win all your matches convincingly and they move you up to 3.5, all that will mean is that you will now play stronger players and maybe not win all your matches, that is what it is suppose to be about.

What *specifically* is the policy of gta that is causing competing states/sections to be able to field stronger teams?

Based on what I'm reading here, it sounds like our section has the same rules: DQs for computer-rated players, etc.

It's awfully hard to believe Georgia is the only place where players improve so rapidly so often that they get DQ'd mid-season at a higher rate than other places with the same or similar rules . . .

It's also awfully hard to believe players in Georgia are so dishonest and lacking in character compared to players elsewhere that they tank matches to avoid DQs or bumps up, but all this talk about it makes a gal wonder . . .

It's not getting bumped up that's the problem. It's getting DQed in the middle of the season. You and your team-mates play 8 or 9 matches at the level the computer says you're supposed to be, then all of a sudden, BAM!, you're DQed, with 3 or4 matches to go!! That's not right, and I wanted to see if that same problem is going on elsewhere, and if others game the system in order to keep from getting DQed. None of us mind getting bumped up to another level, but that should be done after the season, not during the season. I hope that makes sense...

Hey freak, what a coincidence. I just got an email today from our section league coordinator, who said they are looking at not DQing until after sectionals next year, but a leagues committee will have to study it more. We had 12 DQ's at sectionals this year, the majority of whom had computer ratings. That bothered more than a few people.

well , there is not right or wrong way. No matter what solution gta has, someone will always complain about it. Its not really gta's fault. Gta has bosses also. Southern tennis association is above gta. Well another thing to is play in less leagues. Ga is special we have tennis year round. Between cartersville and rome and now calhoun, rating change alot. Best thing is to play in a league, and if you qualify for state in one league, do not play anymore in leagues. It sucks alittle bc you cant practice. If you borderline 3.0 or any level, some people play leagues after qualifying the previous league, just to lose games and matches. To me this is wrong. Gta is watching. But i agree with the players also. If you play your best, and play the right way, it will bump you up or maybe even get dqed. Noone wants to lose money here and there. The object is to compete against the best players in the state. And to move forward to play the best of seven states. there is one rule i like about gta. If you win states, then you get dqed, the player is not allowed to advance to sectional play. The team will remain the same and they will go and compete.

Long time ago before 2001. They were verifyers (bad spelling ). Three ways you get bumped: 1) your record is awesome, meaning undefeated. 2) your look good as a player, your strokes and your placement of the ball on the court. 3) you just that dang good, nothing to do with your record....... I believe the system is aight, but need some changes of course. May feeling may change if something bad happened to me. Just enjoy and dont take it for granted aight.

Georgia teams do very well at sectionals so I don't know what you are referring to unless it the Rome teams not being able to to state/sectionals. Atlanta has sent some power house teams to sectionals and nationals.

Tennisjudge, I'm not really sure what you're trying to tell us in the bold section above. Please explain...

if i was borderline 3.0 player. Meaning if i want to play the system. here is what i would do. Play on a good team that will dominate at state. Get two matches in or at least win the hard matches against the hard teams. After your team won that league, ask your team members if they want to play the next league for practice. You should never play at a high level for practice. do not play 3.5, bc these matches will bump you up before state. This could very much get you dqed. When you play high level, many teams at the level, will lose against the worst player, to help them stay down. back to the story, Some players will play the next season at practice. Some idiots will lose on purpose every match before state. To me, this is cheating. But people do it.

You qualify on one team for state, people play the next few seasons as practice or to lose matches. Why they do this? So they can go all out at state, win or lose dont matter, bc they know they lost a few before state. This makes them not get bumped or dqed for next season, or next year.

People play the system, sooner or later they will get bumped. GTA is watching. People who do this would spend money to lose matches, what a moron. People are doing it, and they are doing it well. I hope this explains the phrase.

NO WAY I AM TELLING YOU TO PLAY THE SYSTEM. DO NOT LOSE MATCHES ON PURPOSE OR EVEN PAD GAMES. I GUARANTEE YOU THERE IS NO MONEY AT THE FINISH LINE. JUST REMEMBER GTA IS SMART, YOU WILL GET CAUGHT....

are you a real tennis doctor? What would you say about the tennis system in ga? I believe it aight right now, but we need to get a few kinks worked out. Rtc has members that care about tennis. Some members care about winning a little too much. There's no gold at the end. Jk meant just kidding.

huh. when was the last time rome 3.5 or 4.0 went to nationals. Find some info and text again

I believe I said sectionals but in any event, I know that the Atlanta teams are always strong and do well at sectionals. We lost to a 3.0 team from Atlanta in the Sectionals about 4 years and they went on to win Sectionals and, if I'm not mistaken, lost in the finals or semis at Nationals. Not bad. Getting to the semis and finals at Sectionals is no small feat in the Southern Section but you make it seem as if you don't go nationals every year something is wrong with the tennis in the state. Ain't so.
