Unusual forehand stance

For years my major problem was a weak crosscourt forehand (lack) of pace. Only on the crosscourt, meanhwile the down the line ma forhenad (is) one of my best shots... (I'm 44 y.o. and about 4.5). I have tried to fix it in many way's: changing the grip, more close or more open stance etc. Then I tried something unhortodox... I try to play my crosscourt forehand in a full open stance with my right leg (btw I'm righty) more in front !!! I have a lot more pace now because I'm able to rotate my body around the hips and hit the ball more in front because all my weight is moving forward. It is wery similar to the stance when pros hit the inside-out forehand being to the backhand side, their left foot is more in front than the right foot. So I'm triing to emulate this on the forehand side by putting a little step forward the right foot. And it work's. Any comments?

For good cross court:

-- The point of contact is more out in front (than the down the line).

-- You can hit good cross court with square stance: left and right legs are lined up in one line leading to cross-court.

-- Do not use cross-over steps for cross court. What is cross over? When the left leg crosses in front of the right leg!

-- You can also hit cross court with semi open or open stance. However, leading with the right leg albeit slightly may pose other problems (you may pull your shots too cross onto your left and out).
