So we had a Prince event at that golf chain store featuring John Isner.. @ San Jose, CA

He answered questions, he signed autographs, and he hit some serves in the back...

-his racket is 27.25
-around 320 grams
-has lead at 3,9,12 and in the handle
-grip size is 4 5/8; mentioned that his grip is longer than usual
-it's customized by Nate Ferguson (sp?) in Tampa Bay, FL
-going to switch to new prince strings, NEVER mentioned tecnifibre; (even though they were strung in his custom O3 White) apparently Prince Gut mains and a random Prince polyester in the cross.
-listens to country music
-likes the Bobcats (basketball)
-recommends 2/3 carbs and 1/3 protein
-likes flat serve out wide on AD Out
-sponsored by tournagrip (unique)
-said that there is a fine line between the top 50,100, and 300
-new coach after US Open, (from U of Georgia)
-sidelined for two weeks earlier this year because of injury to the foot at the Australian Open
-drinks anything available to him (eg Gatorade, Powerade, Water), no special stuff like Cytomax
-practices normally 2 hours a day
-mentioned that pros don't stretch a lot, he stretches the most compared to other pros which is 15 minutes
-has a wildcard in doubles with Donald Young
-was testing O3 Speedport White
-he's 6'9

That's all I remember right now.. I'll edit if I have something to add.

and (for those that go to this store) one of the stringers at the store (not Ted) doesn't distribute friction when weaving the crosses.. so watch out.

I can't believe I forgot to mention.. he's REALLY REALLY NICE.

Good Guy.. Knew him since he was about fourteen and played college tennis with his older brother. The thing I remember most about john besides being humongous even at that age was the way he played. He would just grind and grind from the baseline. I know it came from his old coach Oscar but I always knew college would make him a serve and volley type player. Anyways great kid nice family.

I remember seeing him often in dining halls at UGA and any time I asked how he was doing or asked about tennis he was very nice.

So you are saying his whites weigh less than standard before he adds the lead tape?

Adds lead at 12, 3 & 9 and it only weighs 320gms? They weigh more than that standard. A standard white with overgrip and strung will come in around 330gm's

I think he wasnt telling the whole story here.

Isner won his 1st round match in San Jose in straight sets against the very good frenchman Florent Serra. Oh yeah, Isner didn't get broken! Isner plays the winner of Tommy Haas/Robert Kendrick- Most likely it will be Haas!

Isner is a very cool and nice guy! He has taken a month off since Australia because of a stress fracture in his foot. He played his first match back last night in San Jose and beat Florent Serra in straight sets and never got broken. I have met his older brother Jordan and he is a trip! He was in Athens a couple of weekends ago with John and I saw them out with friends downtown

Jordan is the one that I played colege with. He had a ton of talent also. Notas tall as john but he was still up there and had alot more muscle mass.

I ran into Isner at the Davis cup in Portland. After the US had won the tie, there were celebrations on the court and all attention was focused on the active players, i.e. Blake, Roddick, Bryans etc. Isner was standing to the side... we yelled Isner a few times and he was nice enough to come over and day hi to us. he had this sheepish look on his face... very humble guy in my opinion

Lead at 3,9,12 and in the handle still doesnt add up even unstrung. unless its like a couple of grams of lead all up.

My whites weigh 337gms with just 4gms total at 3&9

He probably just doesn't know much about his gear. My friend (played in college and is now a teaching pro) just knows he's using "the Gonzolez" racquet. He doesn't know or care about weight, strings, PJ's etc...

Well.. he let people hold it and mentioned a lot about it being pretty light. They agreed that it was light, and it was confirmed by the prince rep as being ~320 grams. Plus he knows about Nate Ferguson, (sp?).. that guy at P1, customizing his racket so he must know something about it. They also said it starts out stock, but I doubt it cause it's extended.

Snowman could be right about the weight. I saw Robin Haase in an interview when they asked him who played with the lightest racket he mentioned John Isner and also said he couldn't hit a ball with that prince 03 white racket.

Diaz is a possibility.
He is the Georgia coach but I am NOT sure whether he coaches
/travels with tour players

Diaz is alot older and is coaching at UGA right now. As he's been at all the matches this season I doubt he's traveling or anything.

Prince O3 Speedport White Racquets Review
The next generation of the O3 White comes with Prince's O3 Speedport technology. According to Prince, the reshaped O ports are even more aerodynamic, which helps the racquet swing through the air faster -- a benefit when trying to generate pace and spin. The racquet's design also allows the strings to move more at impact, which increases the size of the sweetspot into what Prince calls the "sweetzone."

Prince has given us two versions of the O3 Speedport White. The first, an update to the O3 White is the O3 Speedport White. It has the same headsize, 16x19 string pattern and 23-25-22 mm tapered beam, similar static weight, swingweight, balance and flex. The second, the O3 Speedport Pro White, introduces more weight and a tighter 18x19 string pattern. The Pro is also slightly stiffer and more head light than the O3 Speedport White.

With American ATP pro John Isner swinging the O3 Speedport White and WTA star Jelena Jankovic choosing the O3 Speedport Pro White, both these racquets have shown they work for those who play at the game's highest levels. We wanted to know how well the masses could wield this stick and how the racquets compared. We strung both the standard and Pro versions up with a 17 gauge multifilament and hit the courts.

Read on to see how both racquets performed for our playtesters. Note: The O3 Speedport Pro White review directly follows the O3 Speedport White review.
