US Open question - attending QF day Sept 9

My dad and I are attending the US open for the first time and it's actually the first time seeing a pro tournament at all. We are sitting in section 309 for the day session of the September 9 quarterfinals and I'm wondering if there will be any other matches going on on outside courts or Armstrong that we can go watch.

I'm a little concerned that if our view from our seats as bad as I think it will be that we won't feel like sitting there for the entire day
session.

I heard someone mention that there is a viewing area on the grounds where there is a very large screen and has restaurant/bar. Is that a better option for the night session or should I just try and buy us tickets for the night session also in the lower promenade?

It seems like tickets for anything closer to the courtroom lower prom are quite expensive.

By the time of the quarterfinals, the juniors will also be playing. If you're worried about not seeing enough tennis you should arrive when the gates open and check out the practice courts. Watching how the pros practice is very enjoyable - you can get very close and really feel how hard they hit and with how much spin. As far as buying the night session ticket, that's hard to say and depends on who's playing. Could be 2 great matches; could be 2 mismatches.

Thx. What time do gates open? Would love to see the pros practice up close. It would be at those set of 5 practice courts?

And do you think doubles would be going on on any of outside courts. I'm not as interested to see juniors

Maybe a dumb question but if you have day session tix to Ashe you don't have to leave the tennis center after day session, right?

If I can't get evening tix for sept 9th QF I was hoping to watch it on the big screen I've heard about. Where is that located and where is best spot to sit at if doing that?

If you have a day ticket for Ashe or a grounds pass you can stay and watch all of the matches on the outer courts (including Armstrong and Grandstand) and stay on the grounds until all the matches (even the night session) are over.

In the evening if you don't have session tickets, you can watch the big screen mounted on the front of Ashe, this is viewable from around the fountains but there is limited seating. You can also watch multiple big screens from the food court including the large screen mounted on Armstrong. There is also a couple of bars around the grounds with TVs.
