US Open Series Atlanta: Terrible.

Just wanted to give fellow tw'ers a warning..the hard court event in Atlanta is HORRIBLE.
I was up there from Sunday untill earlier today and left very dis-appointed..

The facility: ATL Athletic Club is a great venue, but is set up for clay court tennis. They put in a few hard courts for the tourney.

There are 3 "match" courts" with 2 (only 2 practice courts)...

At the practice courts, you can stand behind the fence and look through the darkest wind screen ever and try to figure out who you are watching. There is no where to sit either....

From an accesibility standpoint....the tournament was a waste of time....

Grounds passes are 34.00 per day......(grounds passes for TMS Cincy are $20.00)

The draw was not bad with guys like Roddick, Mallise, Dent, Young, Fish, Blake, Isner....problem is you never get to see any of them practice (only matches)....

If you live in Atlanta, Nor-cross, Duluth etc....great, go and have fun, but if you are planning on driving up from somewhere more than an hour or 2 away.....save your money.

It was rough.

I'm going to try to hit this up next year when I'm in Atlanta for school. Hopefully they will have made upgrades.

Huh? Don't believe everything you read. Excellent venue, excellent tournament. I thoroughly enjoyed it today just as I did the AT&T there for years.

If you want to see some excellent professional tennis at an intimate venue then don't miss it.

I live five minutes away and went today, had fun. Watched d. young-dudi sela, igor kunitsyn-lucas lacko, and a few others. Also xavier mallise let me hit a couple balls with him at the end of his warm up

How was lucas lacko looking? He could really make something happen on the tour, I think.

Also, forgive my ignorance, but is this a new event and what is it a replacement for?

There was an awful lot of hoopla after it replaced Indianapolis (i think).

I see thanks, so they moved Indianapolis to Atlanta basically? How is lucas lacko looking anyway? He could start making some waves on the tour very soon.

So Atlanta held a spot in the USO lineup but it was on clay, got moved to Indy starting 02 onto hard, and is back now '10 in the ATL.

I'm a resident just about 5miles away so it'll be hard for me to walk out disappointed...

Ahh thanks for that - I get the picture now. Did you get to talk to Lucas Lacko at all? He should be skyrocketing by now, I wouldn't mind a Nadal - Lacko final at the US Open actually.
