USTA Chief Katrina Adams apologize Carlos Ramos for the US Open's Woman Final fallout.

Other than being too gushing with the Serena momma thing I don't see any issue with her speech-she was saying the result wasn't the one anybody wanted in the sense of all the nonsense rather than the actual result.

In context it sure didn't seem like that to me as she then followed up with going on about Serena being the Champion of champions or something to that effect, before acknowledging the true Champion.

Hi @MatsPhilander, I really hope your interpretation is the correct one, but I have to say my brain went in another direction entirely. I heard her saying it wasn't the outcome "we all wanted" (we being Americans) and I just felt it was wrong and it was cruel. Like oh hell, none of us wanted this Naomi person to win of all things! Anyway, only she knows what she actually meant and if you are right, I am glad.

Thank goodness we don't get them in the UK, we do have to see her shilling mattresses though.

WOW. Mattresses? LOL @ the disgust.

I dream of a future where people just played tennis and it has noting to do with money or using miniroties as white corporate token puppets for Jamie Dimon and the USTA Straw Hat Club.

They interviewed USTA Chief Katrina Adams before the Joe Kovic / Delpo match and she said her statement about "the outcome we all wanted" was directed at the controversy and the booing and not that Serena didn't win. In this case, I happen to believe her.

Me too...although it was an incredible poor choice of words on her part.

That is so obviously the case that it makes you wonder what really people have against Katrina Adams.

Lets' think about. The accusation is that she publicly stated the wrong person won despite her being the head of the USTA.

She is the only one owed an apology by the people who are so transparently motivated by non tennis-related issues.

She needs to be fired for two reasons:

1) No public apology
2) Calling Serena the "champion of champions" and saying on interview that it wasn't the outcome we all wanted.

Clearly biased and needs to go.

Yes, and moreover she's apparently doing it for free! Crazy stuff on too many levels.

I don't. If she was referring to the controversy and booing, why say it when talking to Serena and not when talking to Osaka?

It's all damage control.

that's a good point, and she could have chosen her words differently... I mean, after all words can be made ambiguous on purpose, or very clear to make sure there is no confusion...

they should also apologise for this:

https://wwos.nine.com.au/videos/ten...n-win-as-pretty-sad/cjlwu6mjk00330hpbkjp102ph

uso was one big failure this year

I thought it was run pretty well this year especially for things that matter to fans such as how long it takes to get through the security lines (A+ this year) and movement of the crowd around the grounds (A for improvements done in connection with New Armstrong but overall B- because you must still navigate the food court maze. Also non-working or low pressure water fountains :().

I do think they made a mistake with some of the final weekend weather related scheduling including the example you provided but they had to make choices.

Other matches like the Girls Doubles final were also moved indoors to practice courts where the general public could not watch. I could not get an answer as to why all the matches moved to the indoor practice courts could not be played on Armstrong. It was suggested to me by an usher it was money (paying for the ushers/court attendants and security for a longer period of time) but this was just an opinion and I have my doubts.

Incidentally, Alcott plays in the "Wheelchair Quad" singles division. For reasons I don't know they prioritized the Wheelchair Men's singles (and Women's) putting both on Armstrong over the Wheelchair Quad and the junior Boys' and Girls' doubles finals all of which got moved to the indoor practice courts. Could they have played three more matches on Armstrong ? I don't know but they could have played at least one and maybe two more by starting at 10am instead of 12pm and going a little later.

Definitely one of the uglier moments in USTA and WTA tourament history. One is against the referee and the other is against the treatment of the champion in trophie ceremony! Then the celebrities defending it all that happened.

She was probably apologising for the grotesquely bad behaviour of the American crowd!

The only thing she is in position to apologise about is the too late statement of the organisation she represents, so, once again we see that your purpose here is to rile the people up with political statements.

Grace and Class = Serena and Katrina
"Gross and Crass". It's great to see Katrina sober enough to send that twatt on Twatter, speaking of druuuuuugs. Sometimes it takes a couple of days.

"Naaa - ooo - mi. Welcome...to the world...stage. SERENA, YOU'RE THE GREATEST CHAMPION WHO EVER LIVED AND WHO WILL EVER LIVE! JUST THE BEST, BETTER THAN YOU KNOW WHO..."
