I was looking for some videos of Gerulaitis, and I found on youtube a series of documentaries regarding Wimbledon, maybe somebody will enjoy watching them.

I'm really a nostalgic, that's the tennis I loved.

Netflix has that Borg/Vitas final for rent now. I'm getting it in the mail today.
Oops, yep, that was a semi-final.
They now also have the 2001 Wimbledon match between Federer and Sampras. (4TH ROUND!)

That Wimbledon match between Borg and Gerulaitis in 1977 was a semifinal, not a final. Vitas never made it to a Wimbledon final.

Well, I found the 5th set exciting but the rest was just OK in my opinion. I actually think both Borg/McEnroe finals in '80 and '81 were much more exciting. In fact, I think the '81 final was even better than the highly touted '80 final.

Really? Hmm...I have always thought the '81 final was anti-climatic.

I'd love for TW to get the 80 & 81 US Open finals. IMO, Borg & McEnroe were awesome in those two finals. I always thought the level of play was higher at the Open and about as good as it gets with wood.

Yeah, I thought the level of play was higher in the '81 than the '80 Wimbledon final. Borg had many chances to win that match. I'd bet if you looked at the total points won in that match, Borg would have won more total points. He had McEnroe down love-30 or love-40 in so many of McEnroe's service games. Borg was up 4-1 in either the 3rd or 4th set, can't remember which and should have won that set. Even Borg commented years later that he played better in the '81 final than the '80 final and thought he would win that match, and that he should have won that match instead of the '80 final.

Yeah, I also wish they would put the US Open matches on DVD. The '80 and '81 McEnroe-Borg finals like you mentioned, but also the '76 Connors-Borg final, the '77 Vilas-Connors final, the '80 and '84 McEnroe-Connors semis, the '92 Edberg-Sampras final, the '92 Edberg-Chang semi, - too many to name.

I am downloading the 1978 wimbledon final on my computer I must say it is an underrated final Connors won only seven games but played great.
