Volkl Cyclone 17 Tension

Hello, I'm planning to string my racquet with cyclone 17's at 55 lbs, but I heard that co-polys lose tension after stringing. What tension should I string at to account for the tension loss? thoughts?

1) what type of racket are you using?
2) what type of strings were you u sing before?
3) what are you looking to get out of a full bed of poly?

People say tension can drop around 10%, I have an ERT and i've seen drops in polys as high as 15% after one day of hitting.

Personally I discourage accounting for tension loss in polys. After a poly stretches it will lose its characteristics. So if you stringer higher than you really want, your strings might settle at the tension you want, but pretty much lose most of its playability. At that point you mind as well be playing with really low tension kevlar =p.

If you are going to use poly and are worried about tension maintenance:
1) use a thicker gauge
2) find a poly that has acceptable tension maintenance (i did not like cyclone 18g tension maintenance, the decrease in tension was not constant enough for me. Yes I know it was 18g 1.20mm but I felt msv hex 18l 1.10mm had a more consistent loss)
3) don't use poly if tension maintenance is a concern.

Think of tension drop as a line graph. It is always decreasing. The point it levels out is the point you usually would want to change out the strings. Would you rather have your ideal range right when you string the racket, or would you rather have your ideal range after you hit for 4 days?

As always everyone is entitled to their preferences and their opinions.

I use a head graphene speed mp with prince lightning strings at 55 lbs, b/c of the lack of durability, i decided to change strings. I heard good reviews about this string, but the tension maintenance raised some eyebrows for me. I play at a high school level, but im not planning to re-string frequently.
