Volkl Organix 10 325 Strings Up Tight?

Anyone familiar with the Volkl Organix 10 325 have any thoughts or suggestions as to why it seems to string up/ play very tight for the tension being used? I'm playing the Becker London, but have an Organix 10 325 I would like to give an extended test. Problem is I seem to keep stringing it too tight for the racket's playing characteristics. I play a poly / multi hybrid in the London, usually at 54 poly mains, 58 multi cross. The 325 felt really tight at that range. Have restrung it at 51/51, but have not had a chance to hit it yet. Strings still seem very tight in the frame at that tension. Anyone noticed this about the frame? What causes it? Seems like it would be a nice option, if I could get the right tension. What have you guys found?

The X10 325 seems to be very string sensitive especially at high tensions. I strung mine at around 57 lbs at first with a soft multi and it felt like a plank, whereas in other racquets that tension felt fine. I think you need to drop the tension by 5 to 10 lbs in the X10. Don't know why that is, but it certainly makes the X10 more playable. Incidentally, I'm switching to the London. The X10 feels a bit too alien for me, good as it is.

Dude, the X10 325 strings up CRAZY tight. If you aren't playing at a 6.5+ level, you have no business stringing it over 55lbs. Using poly? Even lower. And that's on a CP. If you're using a drop weight, better make room in that garbage can.

I string mine at 52 with a full set of poly. The racquet is sensitive to the type of strings. Different polys will have different outcomes.

That's partially the reason I sold mine, it was wayyyyy too string sensitive for my tastes, especially with tension loss, I never got a consistent read from the string bed.

Thanks for the comments. Seems like this should be a solid frame, but I can't find the correct string/tension. Tried it for about 5 minutes today and it still did not feel good. After three string jobs, tired of messing with it. The London just seems like the easier frame to use. In theory the 10 should be nice, but I have yet to find the set-up.

If you want to get rid of it, let me know.

I have mine strung at 44/42 with NRG2 and it's still playable in that the string be still feels firm. It's very strange. I've never ever had multifilaments at such low tensions. I originally had it strung at about 52 but I found it way too stiff and lacking in feel since I couldn't tell which part of the string bed ball contact was made.

For comparison purposes, I have a Becker Legend strung with a multi at 55lbs. The Legend has an 18 x 20 pattern and it still feels looser than the X10 325 at 44/42.

So what I'm saying is that the old string tension benchmarks go out the window with the X10 325 and it takes quite a bit of work to adapt if you're coming from a more traditional type of racket. My prevoius racket was a PB10 Mid and the two are very very different in feel.

When a racquet demands low tension, that's great news for those with arm problems. Organix 10 gives you tons of control and allows you to string at very low tensions.

I hit the London as well, but I demoed the X-325 last week. I actually prefer the crisper feel of the X-325 and thought that anything in the sweetspot was sublime in feel and very precise with good ball quality. Outside of the sweetspot you feel it, but I think that it gives the false impression there that it's "stiff,"---almost as if instead of vibration you're feeling the "no-give" stability of the frame. This off-center "collision" doesn't vibrate to the arm and still produces a decent ball.

I actually ordered an IG Prestige MP and know where I can get an X-325 for cheap brand new. I'll probably pick one of these up as well and hit both against the London for awhile to make a final decision. The more I hit the X-325, the more I liked it. And the demo was with a multi at what felt like low-mid tension.

Totally agree. I also have come from PB10 Mid and although I quite enjoy the X10 325 at low tensions with soft string, I think that it's too far from the feel of the PB10 that I really like. The London seems to be a little in between the two, which is why I'm settling for that one (plus it's a little lighter which probably suits me better at my age).

I've got mine locked in with natural gut at 54/51 and it seems about right but agree it seems to play tighter than it sounds.

Where's TM when you need him?

The new Volkl Organix line has better torsional stability than a lot of stock rackets and the organix material gives a nice solid thump at ball contact. I think this is why they seem to string up crazy tight. You are feeling the torsional stability and solid feel.

I have a leaded up O10 295. The stock twist weight according to TW is 13.4 - that is toward the high end even for players rackets.

In general, you can go down 2-5 lbs from your normal tension range with these rackets.

If you use the same string (no hybrid), try dropping the cross sting 2-4 lbs in tension. If you hybrid with soft string in the cross, don't use a big differential - maybe main poly 50 with soft cross at 52 or 53. If you hybrid with poly in the cross, use a 4-5 lbs differential such as soft main 54 and poly cross 49.

i play with the organix and i use volkl cyclone and string it at 53/50..for some reason, i like the way the racket plays after a few hours of hitting with it, seems to settle in very nicely.......always wondered though if i just strung it lower to begin with, would i get that feeling sooner ? ..i generally tear out the string after two weeks hitting, due to playing with a full set of poly

string set up organix 295

I have tried a number of set ups, after getting lots of great advice from TM.

Set up #1 Tecnifibre X-One Biphase String 17g 56mains, 53crosses

Wonderful, fantastic power and control but the string does not last that long.

Set up #2 Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour 17 String 56mains, 53crosses

Great, very good power and control, the string has astonishing durability.

Both set ups are great ... but the Biphase playability is amazing I will be switching back to this string and set up when and if the Pro Hurricane begins to fall apart.

Hope that helps.
