Volkl tuners - V Sense 10 325g

Looking for any results that you folks may have found with tuning your VS 10 325g into a mildly heavier, more stable layout. Even if it didn't bring any improvements, I'd appreciate any feedback.

I grabbed a pair of these on clearance to perhaps take the place of my older Organix 10 325g's. I didn't like those O10's until I leaded their hoops and handles, but I loved them after trying that. My tuning trials with my VS 10's haven't worked so far, but I know that there are a few tuners here who have tweaked their own frames, including different models among the 10-series Volkls.

Any ideas or input are welcome, thanks.

What mods have you tried and what didn't you like about the results? I bought a used pair last summer and liked them stock but not enough to not unload them (probably prematurely). Based on my short time with the racquet, I got the sense that the layup was firmer and more modern than I expected. Therefore, I think it was begging to be swung faster, not weighted up. And I don't really adapt well to the 'swing faster' demands of a racquet. So I think weighting the head of the racquet would have just made it feel stiffer and more cumbersome than I prefer, but I think a leather grip or lead tape just above the butt cap and under your hand would have optimized the frame on its terms.

It needed something that I could never put my finger on either, and I didn't like it enough to tinker that much.

I tried to give my VS 10's some lead tape in a similar layout that I did with my Organix 10's; a few grams at 3/9 o'clock along with some 1/2" lead on the handles to give them more stability through the ball with a familiar balance of 10-11 pts. HL. I don't remember how I strung them when I tried the tuning, but they just felt bad.

Maybe they're essentially too stiff, but my old ProStaff 6.1 Classics were even more stiff than these. They were rather cozy hitters and they weighed in at around 12.8 oz. I think that I expected some soft racquet feel to come alive in my VS 10's the way that it did with my O10's once I tuned them.

Thinking I might need to eventually take a Prince Phantom out for a spin.

Are you sure you tried the VSense 10 325g? That one's fairly soft. The VSense 10 Tour and VFeel 10 are much stiffer. I put a few grams of lead at 12 on my VS 10s to raise the swingweight. Ultimately I decided they were just a bit too heavy for me in long, physical matches but I liked those sticks.

Are you sure you tried the VSense 10 325g? That one's fairly soft. The VSense 10 Tour and VFeel 10 are much stiffer. I put a few grams of lead at 12 on my VS 10s to raise the swingweight. Ultimately I decided they were just a bit too heavy for me in long, physical matches but I liked those sticks.

I agree that the 10 Tour and V-Feel 10 are stiffer, but the V-Sense 10 325 is still a little firmer and more modern than I prefer. I also agree that a little weight here and there helps the V-Sense 10 325, but coming in at 325, it easily becomes cumbersome. That said, V-Sense 10 325 never felt like it was going to hurt my arm. I liked how it flexed in the throat with a firmer hoop -- the opposite of the C10 Pro. And if the hoop had just been a little more flexible and the frame overall had been 10-15g lighter as a platform, I would have modded it and kept hitting it.

Aren't you a long-time C10 Pro user? A few of these Princes would be a logical step, maybe the open-patterned 93P or the 97P with your customary modifications.

I currently own Angells (2X TC95 18x20 and 1X K7 Lime) and a Wilson Ultra Tour and can't recommend them enough, but I do miss that dense Volkl 16x19 pattern and the traditional Volkl head shape. Maybe the new V-Cell line will come through for us.

I was being a little bit of a dork there making fun of myself with all my different Volkls and wondering what else I can add to my lineup. Golfers have a limit of 14 clubs in the bag, right? Why should they get to have all the fun?

Yes, I have some C10's and I adore those for singles slugging and occasionally for doubles, but they really don't work as well in some settings for me as the 10-series 325g's. I'd love to try one of the Phantom 97's down the road, but I'm trying to get a little better sorted with what I've got.

I'll do some baby steps with lead on one of my VS 10's and see if I can cheer it up (by my standards) without beefing 'er all the way up to 12.7 oz. like I did with my O10's.
