What defect (physical, emotional, etc) do you wish you didn't have?

Wow lots of issues here. I am struggling to get my kickstarter idea off the ground

Its an artifical appendix for those poor souls who feel less of a person becuase they no longer have an appendix. Its a terrible condition to have and is wrought with many emotional and social issues.

Ha ha. There is a line in an existentialist novel that made me think of you. It goes something like "...i wish a was a women weighing 18 stones and lighting candles to an unseen God" or something like that. Basically ignorance is bliss

Intellectuals like us are at a distinct disadvantage compared to, say, Crusty. It is a wonder we have been allowed to come so far. Must be because of our superior tennis skills.

Don't forget beloved cult super hero Sureshs is deficient in that he does not have a soul. Otherwise he's the best super hero I could ever imagine.

Or just maybe, Sureshs wishes he didn't have one have. Hmmm, hoping Sureshs will solve this mystery with his gas.

Too much self knowledge is bad. What if you become bored or disgusted with yourself?
Do you prefer ignorance to knowledge? In the vein of "How terrible is wisdom when it brings no profit to the wise?"

The only way to move forward is to have a map. Your knowledge about yourself is that map, when the journey is about self evolution.

Sureshs, do you get bored when you spend too much time with yourself? For better or worse, I rarely do, as I'm always thinking funny things. ;)

Oh, he does have a soul. Otherwise, the Drop Volley of Defecation is an impossible move.

High Functioning Autism, anxiety disorder, ADD, chronic lifelong depression. But honestly for the most part what I would change is for other people to have some humanity and compassion. Which most (not all) don't..
Sorry to hear that, man. do you feel you are making progress, or that you function well enough?

I wish I was stupid enough to believe in religion. Then I would have a lot of stupid friends and be happy all the time.

Can you do a hundred* times [since you are so smart] better than Blaise Pascal's wager?

Having to eat when you've no appetite.

Diabetic type 1 mixed with an unhealthy dose of laziness. Some pills for other defects, but the dream would be to not be diabetic.

Empathy: I'd be rich as s*** otherwise.

Empathy is the only thing that separates us from the beasts.

But that is exactly what Nature will not let happen, because then you would be depressed at age 18 and that is not good for procreation to preserve the species.

Good one!

I need to find some empathy for Kid Flash. I was laughing as he got sucked away. :p

'If you can continue to keep it around this level then all is good.' That is what the doc and nurse have been telling me the last few years. Always seem to keep the levels in check. For now.

I, too, am a diabetic, with a propensity to enjoy bacchanal activities. I told my endocrinologist that I pump random amounts of insulin when drinking and he had no advice; only a shake of the head.

Not being able to get to the point.

Just going on and on and not knowing when I should stop. You know? Like I've made my point. It wasn't that complicated, but I just keep talking and talking. It's like I'm talking too much. Let me put it this way...I've got a point to make, I make it, but then I keep going on anyway. The problem is repetition. I keep saying the same things over and over.

To make a long story short, I talk too much.

Serious question. Where do I begin? ;)

OK, the most damaging defect I probably have had in my life is laziness. I'm still struggling to overcome it, but actually I'm doing better with it than I did once.

It is a sad defect to have, because it does limit a lot the span of things you can accomplish. At some times I have been able to completely eradicate it, and then magic happens. But usually I'm just too lazy to care.
I wish I didn't get bullied. all bullies must be sent to the moon without any spacesuits.

I saw a dietitian on Monday & said I thought I might have SIBO but she did she didn't think they did Hydrogen Breath Testing any longer. I am down to 10 stone now & struggling to find things to eat. I seem to struggle with all grains-so it is more likely the proteins.
I hope they figure what you can do to get better. Did you get tested for Helicobacter Pylori?

I struggle with absolutism. Not in everything but in a lot of things. Like in tennis i am hitting 100% or dinking. Not much in between. Absolutism messes up a bunch if things and well there is literally no help out there that i can find.

I wish I wasn't so crazy about tennis. It's a very one sided relationship where I love tennis, but tennis doesn't love me back, and I'm cursed with no talent and a knack for injuries.

I wish I was nonsmoker and nondrinker, then I could hold a proper job and be a productive member of the society.

So you struggle with absolutism only partially? ;)

Yeah, what you actually mean is that you are a person of extremes. Have you try doing things more conscientiously and according to a plan? I used to be very much like this (and still am to a point), but if you set up a plan and do things according to some rationale, you will stop doing things in extreme ways.

You can't do everything 100%, because then you get tired and you go back to 10%. That's what causes doing things in extremes.

Do you have an inproper job currently? In the 70s you might have risen to be the director of a prominent newspaper, and you could flaunt your ashtray full of cigarette butts and your yellow teeth with no restraint, but nowadays it's not kewl. Even if you smoke in a bathroom (and cross a janitor), he will look at you with contempt. It's a sad time we live in.

Some creative whiz probably lurked the early days of TTW and came up with the idea to model Don Draper on @SoBad but had to set him in a bad habit friendly era that transitioned to our current no fun GOAT era of personal behavior. Draper took advantage of that weak era and literally won the ratings before a single cast member set foot on the film stage. The transitory ladder must go Draper to SoBad to Stososov to mury goat to Sewretch...someone correct me if I'm wrong!

I will ask some noted historians to weigh in on my calculations:

Your theory may well hold some weight. I can't personally speak to the specifics of the sequencing. My knowledge of Draper is limited as I've barely seen his program, but I am aware of the stereotype that he represents. You are onto something with the ever-evolving plot line that plays out daily within the confines of this platform. If a talented script writer, for instance, were able to pull meaning from the out-of-context saga, and subsequently translate that to a more conventional and linear storytelling medium, I think he might find himself the proud owner of a veritable gold mine.
U mean like 16 Emmys, 5 GOLDEN Globes and a Peaf**kingbody type of GOLDMINE???

That ladder, is it going up or down?

I haven't watched Mad Men, BTW. Started the pilot once and fell asleep.
