What is the Best backhand grip for Tennis Elbow?

I have been dealing with some tennis elbow lately. I use a one hand backhand. I have read all the links on the subject and I realize technique (hitting late on a one hand backhand), equipment and condition all can effect tennis elbow. I am working on all of the above. That being said, I also read that there are better grips to use for a one hand backhand if you suffer from tennis elbow. Unfortunately, the site I read this on didn't give more info. I use an eastern backhand grip. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is a good backhand grip to use to help reduce or prevent tennis elbow? I.e. is a more Western grip worse to use?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

I've found learning a two handed backhand helped me heal my tennis elbow. The one handed back hand slice is what injured it in the first place.

Hi all, I cannot recommend a good grip to hit 1BH because every stroke has its pros and cons. However, I have to agree that weight training is important prior to hitting with depth. Visit www.tenniselbow.net and they recommend ways to overcome this TE problem. I have been doing some weight training on my own and I realised it has helped a lot. maybe you would like to give it a try.

acer, I was experiencing a bit of elbow pain over the last week (thankfully cleared up as the one in my left arm took a year to subside) and found that it was most notable when I hit my eastern grip sliced backhand. However, when I hit my semi-western backhand I didn't feel the pain at all. Im a little surprised as would have thought it would be the other way around.

Should also add that when I hit this weekend just gone it was with an old Prince Graphite Comp Series 110, there was almost no pain and by today it appears gone. Im sure each case is different but did find the oversize head to be a lot kinder to my arm than the stiffer mid and midplus frames despite it being a touch on the head heavy side.

Good luck

I'd say watch for "elbow-ness" in your swing, before thinking about the grip.

Also, did you check the Health Forum for TE issues? Many threads there.
