What match do you most often rewatch highlights of?

So it's a very simple question, what tennis match do you think you have seen highlights of the most times?

You can say one with your fav player and one without.

For me it's probably WB 2008, Nadal vs Federer
Then UO 2009 Final, Del Potro vs Federer

Australian Open 2009 final. The match was basically one big highlights reel anyway. Just superb from both Federer and Nadal. Somehow, I never quite catch the 5th set
That 5th set, even though I'm very happy with the result, kind of makes sure it's not as good a match as AO 2012, it's a shame with those matches. I also kind of feel like that RG 2017 SF is a very overrated match, because that last set was so one-sided, but of course a match isn't only the 5th set.

I could never understand this opinion. IMO the level in the first 4 sets was higher than anything we have seen in AO 2012 final. Alright, the fifth set was one sided, so what? The second and third sets in AO 2012 final were one sided as well. It was close to a routine 4 set win for Djokovic in that AO final. Nadal was lucky to push that into a fifth set. (just like Djokovic was lucky in RG 2013)

I guess the match was alright, to be absolutely fair I only saw the 3rd-5th set, as I wasn't home before then, also I am probably just a little sad Murray didn't win, but anyway, I do feel it would have been much better if the 5th set was longer.

2005 Rome Final Rafa vs Coria and 2013 RG Semi-Final Rafa vs Nole. 2 of the best clay court matches and tennis matches of all time. That 05 Rome Final is also why I believe that Rafa could have won RG in 04 had he not missed it with a stress fracture.

Totally agree on Rome 2005 final, this was an epic match. An example of "real" claycourt tennis. RG 2013 semifinal is overrated though.

I think Rome 05 is the greatest clay court match of all time. The court coverage of both players was nothing like we have ever seen before or since. Why do you think 2013 is overrated? It's not the greatest match ever, but the level outside of the 3rd set where Joker colloapsed on a bad call was extremely high. I also love Rome 06, but I think that match tends to be slightly over-hyped because Fedal.

Nadal should have won RG 2013 semifinal in 4 sets but he choked. The level of play wasn't too high in the first 4 sets anyway. Only in the fifth set Nadal really started to hit some very nice winners.
Rome 2006 was great. Maybe the best match in Federer-Nadal rivalry. But I still rate Rome 2005 a bit higher.

AO17 starting in the 5th set, for obvious reasons. Always a good way to pick up my day.

Djoker Rafa AO12, that is just pure fun and amazement.

Sampras Fed wimbledon 01, as that is a bit of nostalgia and changing of the guards all in one.

Unless it's in a news context, I don't really watch highlights. I find them hard to enjoy because you miss the rhythm of the match.

I will often put on an old match when doing ironing or something - usually from the late '80s or early '90s - but I tend not to rewatch the same thing over and over. Although I have definitely seen Cash-Edberg at AO 1987 a couple of times.

Mostly Aussie Open matches - Federer Nadal 2017, Federer Safin 2005, Hewitt Nalbandian 2011, Djokovic Wawrinka 2013, and I have a big soft spot for Nalbandian Grosjean 2007 - the last year of Rebound Ace, a great all court match-up.

How are you watching them? Surely not on vHS?

Torrents mostly. A lot of big matches from the '90s are on YouTube, particularly if they involve Sampras or Edberg. The quality is variable.

If you google around a bit you can often find people selling old matches on DVD. It tends to be a bit of a grey market since they don't strictly hold the rights to the matches.

Not sure where it stacks up to the AO 12 Final. I think the tennis quality was higher in 09. Maybe the drama was better in 12, with the epic finish, rather than the rather limp 5th set from Fed (although full credit to Nadal; he never let up, and earned that victory). Depends what you're looking for in a match. In my Fed fan bias, I would love to have the 5th set of the AO 2017 final tacked onto the first 4 sets of the AO 09 final. That would be the perfect match to me

Wim 80 / 81.
Beck v Samp in those two huge indoor Tourneys.
I rearly rewatch matches and most matches since 2000 are very similar so why.
Also rewatch FO 84? Mac v Lendl & 81 Borg v Lendl
I tend to rewatch old matches to remind me most TTW don't know tennis and affirm my thoughts.
I sometimes watch few early 90s Wim if I can find. But had ones above on DVD and Wim 80/81 pops up on YouTube better quality than the pirate DVD.

Mcenroe vs Lendl RG 1984 (no explanation necessary)

Serena vs Azarenka USO 2012 (Serena so clutch in this match)

Djokovic vs Federer USO 2010 (the most significant "turning point" style moment in the rivalry.)

Nadal vs Federer Rome 2006 (no words necessary)

Kvitova vs Bouchard W 2014 (shotmaking exhibition)

Hingis vs Graf RG 1997

Nadal vs Federer W 2008 (second only to their match in Rome imo)

Djokovic vs Nadal Miami 2011 (video game tennis. Only two players on earth capable of a match that looks like this. Hyper physicality and shotmaking with an unreal level of consistency)

Nadal vs Coria Rome 2005 (no words necessary)

Sharapova vs Williams W 2004 (Sharapova's level and the sheer shock of the moment and the historical implication holds up over repeat viewings).

Sampras vs Agassi USO 2001 (as good as it gets)

Chang vs Lendl RG 1989 (the little master Chang in one of the best fighting performances ever)

Not an individual match but I love watching highlights of the matches from Tim Henman's incredible run to the Paris 2003 title.

I always come back to the Rome 2006 final. Sublime tennis for five sets. Federer and Nadal's highest quality match IMO.

I never watch highlights... Tried few times to watch Novak-Federer highlights, always thought that Fed will win, but at the end it was oposite, Novak won each time... Strange...
Found that highlights are somehow misleading so I like to watch whole matches, and my favorites are W14, W15, USO15...

You have to add in the 2011 USO Final of Stosur v Serena.

Not just for the Aussie factor of Stosur being so clutch (despite her being well known as a chokester) but the Serena drama. I'll never forget the line of "you're a hater, you're unattractive inside" and "don't look my way, I am not the one". The match had it all.

Federer-Tomic Australian Open 2012. The only match i know where Stubbornerer acknowledged that he can't beat Tomic in baseline rallies and started playing dirty tennis. Doesn't happen even against Del Potro.

I've never rewatched the match in full but I should. I've forgotten how the hell Stosur managed to win it!
