I took classes in all kinds of things from chemistry to Roman history to biology to Jewish studies

Remember that the name can only be in tetragrammation and should never be spoken. Instead use adanai. I got a nice tutorial on this from my local pro shop owner last week when I went for stringing. He is very orthodox and member of the Chabad temple. I have learnt a lot of Judaism from him. He is closed on all Jewish holidays. The conversation arose when I was reading a poster from the temple in his shop in which god was spelled as g-d and I asked him why. Turned out the guy stringing my frames at that time is also Jewish and so he also pitched in.

I love Jewish people. One of my family friends is married to a Jewish guy. What I like is that there is no proselytization and also this tradition of "secular Jew" where someone openly says I love Jewish people, customs, food, get-togethers, traditions, but I am really not religious. In my view, this should be the model of religion in this century. A kind of appreciation for history and enjoyment of food and drink and socializing, with a sprinkling of spirituality for some psychological help.

I"m a bum.
In college, my major was surfing. I even dropped out 3 straight semesters in order to surf, and sustain a surfing lifestyle at Cal Western University in San Diego.
I guess my minor was borderline road racing... Suzuki X-6 mostly, and a beat up TD-2 that I worked on for over a year to get running, then lost interest as motocross looked more up my alley.

Do liberal arts majors need to go to graduate school to get a good job and make a good amount of money?

I keep hearing about how difficult it is to find a high paying job with only a bachelors degree.

It unfortunate that not everyone can do STEM or business.

And they shouldn't. Society needs to be balanced. STEM and Business degrees produce robots who only care about money and the small details of life. It is up to liberal arts majors to create works of art and literature and also become the voices of conscience in society. Without that, dictatorship sets in as the STEM types are busy with the small details and the business types are focused only on personal wealth, and without conscientious journalists and freedom-loving artists and writers, there will be no one to oppose the dictator.

I did Chemical Engineering, not too sure why. o_O
As meth labs with their synthetic substances come under increasing pressure to streamline and commoditize their operations due to the impact of globalization, the demand for natural products from traditional grassroots cannabis farms provides opportunities for graduate programs in botanics, at leading academic institutions, to expand capabilities through private grant offerings.

10 boys for every one girl in Chem Eng'g?;)

Had a friend who told me he'd rather have a piece of degree certification in B.S. Math than History, Philosophy and Psychology. He of course graduated with a degree in Computer Science. His reasoning was perfect imo, when in doubt, just get that piece of paper...then move on from there.

Lots of famous actors, comedians and authors chose history as their majors, not to mention politicians and industry leaders.
Isn't "Hollywood" 100% political science majors?

(if only they could've cut this off at the halfway mark and simply kept it about "'smart' actors knowing better than we do"....... both candidates are frauds..)

It is the responsibility of Hollywood or what that matter any creative artist to be the voice of conscience. Cinema has always stood up against dictatorships. Charles Chaplin was targeted by McCarthy because of his movies showing the exploitation of workers. It is the duty of Hollywood to bring enlightenment to the narrow-minded masses. It is a sacred duty of the humanities. Humanities is not just about painting some picture. That is why all dictatorial types are upset with Hollywood. These politicians don't really believe in freedom of speech and get angry when their bigoted attitudes arising from religion are exposed by Hollywood.

In India, Bollywood has played a major role in a couple of ways. In the older days, the movies showed religious tolerance when society was shaken by communal riots. More recently, movies have been responsible for bringing homosexuality to the forefront and pointing out the discrimination against gays.

My second choice was Pharmacy though, so it was either learning how to make substances or learning how to dispense substances. :p too bad, there isn't much of a pharmaceutical industry to speak of over here, so our course was largely geared towards the resource industry, i.e. mining, upstream and downstream oil & gas.

Haha! Surprisingly, the boy to girl ratio in Chemical Engineering wasn't too bad. It was a lot closer to something like 1.5:1 compared to most other engineering majors. :D

If California legalizes marijuana next month, there will be a lot of opportunities to dispense substances!

Never cars, I got into road racing before motocross, back in the later '60's. 250 production with 2 different bikes, and a sight set on 250 GP, but it took too long to get the TD-2 running up to snuff.

I made many bad decisions in College that have not worked out well for me.

I wanted to go into Medicine or Engineering but i realized the math was too overwhelming for me and I greatly lacked the work ethnic to ever get into medical school or though it.

My family said I should majored in Accounting but I tried a course and found it so utterly boring and repulsive that I could not open the book.

Computers ??? I dont like them..

I ended up majoring in History and had a stupid general science minor so maybe I should have did the trade school option
This board has a ton of very brilliant and insightful people and I am not one of them

I got pushed into IT, was too stoned at a young age to realise I didn't really like the field. It's a good job with promising things down the road. Don't worry about not being one of the insightful people on this board, getting a good job/studying isn't really that impressive. Like, really, I'm quite stupid, had issues with my mental health as a child, I went to the second worst school in my country, took a lot of drugs from 17+, and still earn a nice living for myself and I'm still very young. I'm pretty sure anyone else can do whatever they want (including medicine) if I can do what I've done (because I'm quite stupid). Why don't you become a History teacher. Or actually start creating some historic videos for youtube etc??

I think what's important is being around people you like. I have not found that in pharmacy (certain hitting partners) or oil and gas (lived in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk at one time for half a year, revolving in the high society).
