What would happen - Luxilon 18g with Gut 16g

I'm interested in hearing what you think this setup might play like:

Some Luxilon 18 gauge string with a 16 gauge natural gut hybrid.
What would you put in the mains and crosses and why? Which Luxilon string would you use?

Currently, I play with 16 gauge Hurricane in my crosses, and VS natural gut in my mains 16 gauge.

I'm after an arm friendly set-up, but also something that will encourage spin and power, but with a main focus on control.

I use a Prince 03 Red Racquet.

i use lux ace in the mains lil bit soft and legend 15L in the crosses plays like graaavvvyy... ; )ace strung at 64 and legend at 62

is the luxilon 18 gauage, or 15 as well?

Luxilon Ace is 18g. I use this in the mains at 57 lbs. and Bow Brand Champ Gut 16L in the crosses at 63 lbs. It is the best string job I've ever played. I've been using it for about 4 years. First in my 6.1 Classics then in my nCode Tour 90s. I've tried many many other hybrids trying to save a little money and also to try out newly available guts and polys. I've never found anything that I like better.

18g will be like knife through butter on gut... especially if you hit spin. Go with 17g and you should get a bit better wear.

You should try this . . . it won't cost you much to try.

Price Synthetic Gut with Duraflex 18 in the mains and some soft multi in the crosses 16 guage, in the crosses.
