Can we consider Luxilon Big Banger Ace 18g a soft poly?

I'm currently using Head Prestige Tour 600(Mid size). I'm using Wilson NXT Tour 17 as mains(55lbs), and Wilson Enduro Tour 17 as crosses(52lbs). The good thing about this setup is that string movement reduced to minimum. The setup is kind of powerful.

I'm thinking of using Luxilon Big Banger Ace 18g as mains and synthetic gut 16g as croses. Will the string move alot on this setup?

Another concern is the durability, with Luxilon Big Banger Ace 18g so thin at 1.12mm, will it saw through the synthetic gut? or should i use a thicker gauge synthetic gut as crosses for increased durability?

Thanks.

16g Synthetic Gut crosses should be plenty durable enough; I have a Hurricane 18g and Gosen Micro 17g that holds up fine mainly because there isnt' too much movement.

never had a problem with durability of ace, either in a full job or hybrid. you will probably cut them out before they break - only good for 20 hours then they go kind of dead feeling.

I have been switching between this setup and Hurricane/synth gut 16.

Not a lot of string movement with either.

I would not consider the BB Ace a soft or hard poly. The feel of it is just right. Not soft like a multi but not hard like some poly's to the point where your arm is killing you after playing for a few mintues.
I have used it as a hybrid with Babolat's X-Cel 16gauge. Plays wonderfully.

I still consider lux bb ace a hard poly in a thinner gauge string. A soft poly would be the cheaper poly strings like prince poly gut or goosen polylon.

It elongates more than traditional extruded poly string in my experience, but it's one of the harshest playing polys that i've ever hit with (in my experience, of course). I have hit with a ton of polys, too.

The reason lux/polyesque strings of the type do not move so much is because they get soft little notches from indenting each other. This helps lock the string in place. In your case, since you are hitting with a very dense patterned racquet, you should have no problem with sawing. You should be worried more about the mains than the crosses, IMO. The syn gut crosses should snap from true wear, where they just thin out and eventually snap. As far as string movement, they dont' really have tooooooo much room to move in a prestige, so i dont think you have all that much to worry about. It'll soften up the string bed a little, and IMO actually make the set up more powerful.
