When Fed And Nadal Retire!!!

richied

Rookie
IMO I don't see many players coming through the ATP ranks that really stand up and say 'look at me.' As Sampras said, "there are a lot of really good players, but not many great players" (only Fed and Nadal in this group). So, what can be done to keep tennis interesting in the next 5-10 years? I'm concerned when Fed and Nadal retire tennis will be a monotonal sport without any ninja's to keep it interesting. I guest someone will eventually stand up, but I can't see it happening for a while. Golf is lucky, because Tiger can play into his late 30's and probably 40's and still win Majors. Who will tennis have to excite the masses?????????

I don't want the ATP tour to become like what's happening on the WTA tour.TOO MANY AVERAGE PLAYERS!!!

If u really want ill do it. just kidding, im sure someone will rise up in about 5 years, nadal isnt gonna retire for a long time, hes only 22 so hes gonna be there for at least another 7 years and by then for sure someone would be up there, murray is making his way there right now, and if djokovic can keep it up he might one day as well. and who knows how many 16 and 17 year olds that are gonna become pro very soon, one of them might be crazy, so dw about it.

There will be people, I'm sure people were thinking the same when Sampras and Agassi left, but look we got people to take their place, we have up and comers like Nishikori, Tomic, and Dimitrov, and I'm sure other talent will rise late, like everyone thought Federer bloomed a bit late.

When Laver and Gonzales retire, when Borg and McEnroe retire, when Sampras and Agassi retire....same story, different names....people always rise up fairly soon to fill the void and make you forget about the other guys.

There will be players that step up and take Nadal and Fed's place, but I dont see anyone out there that can dominate as Fed and Nadal did.

Federer will become a commentator (heaven help us) Nadal will be like Borg, we won't hear much from him, he'll be tied up in Spain.

The field will probably automatically improve because there'll be more to play for and stars will rise again.

When they retire, Federer will become the biggest endorser of Swiss cholatate and hidden bank accounts. Rafa will star in many Pedro Almodovar movies.

we may never see 2 GOAT contenders screwing each others chances over as much as Roger and Rafa have done to each other

which is good, because it gives us more exciting matches :D

there will be new legends after the current gen retire

but we'll never forget them :) and the memories :)

I was just thinking that in 2012 Federer will be 31, well past his prime if not retired, Nadal's knees may give up and Murray may be injured because he gets injured a lot, so Djokovic at 25 may win the golden slam. Or Djokovic may be injured and Murray may win the golden slam. How about that?

I think that would be neat.

Just six months ago people were talking Gulbis.
Now it's Tomich and Dimitrov who got beat by Udomchoke in Bangkok.
I think it'll be Djokovic, Murray, Verdasco.

Verdasco? He is 3 years older than Nadal, so he is still going to be the future when Nadal retires, that would make him around 32-33 hahahaha
