AO 2022 or Wimbledon 2022. No doubt in my mind that he will, but not sure which one of the two. Probably Wimbledon. It is time for someone else to win AO.

Honestly don’t think he wins another HC Slam with Med, Zverev, and (possibly) Thiem around… but of course that is just my initial reaction. So it would have to be Wimby.
If he has to play one of them in 7 matches to a slam, he definitely does it. Playing all three or maybe 2 out of 3 will be extremely difficult. Also factor in how easy Med's draw was this USO, he'll have a harder time with a tougher draw

Yes meds path helped him being mentally and physically fresh

Unlike on hard and clay, no one really challenged him on grass this year. Shapo definitely outplayed him for stretches but still lost in straights. Unless the next great grass players emerges before Wimbledon 2022, Novak should be the overwhelming favorite

His best chance will always be at the Australian Open but I am not certain about AO 2022. We will have to be patient and wait and see how the rest of this year goes first and cross that bridge when we come to it.

Nadal could be the first to get to #21 at the French Open next year - if his fitness and wellness is there for him by then and of course that someone else wins at AO 2022 besides Djokovic.

Brought this up in former players, where historically the Slam count has been broken anew:

Tilden at USO
Emerson at AO
Sampras at Wimbledon
Federer at Wimbledon
Djokovic at????? Well clearly AO.

What I really want is all of the slams to be super competitive. Nadal and Federer to be healthy. All playing to the best of their abilities at the time. I want tennis to win.

If Thiem manages to comeback healthy he *may* be able to halt Novak at AO22. If not then perhaps Zverev can thwart him, I mean up until the 5th set at the USO he was playing him well

WB22 though I still favor him mainly because there doesn't seem to be any big challengers on that surface at the moment

He's still the favorite at the AO. Obviously, he'll need a bit more favorable draw than what he got here. But yeah, i get that if Zverev and Medvedev continue along this path they could become huge obstacles.

In his dreams as he cries himself to sleep and dire anguish of blowing both and Olympic medal and final get just one ahead of the popular kids. His Dad can help him sleep telling him he was sent by God and is really special n stuff.

I think you would have to favour Medvedev now. He just beat the hell out of Djokovic despite the hard court conditions being slightly different. Thiem also was razor close to beating him a couple years back. Djokovic‘s level is only going to decline more as he’s almost 35 years old. Wimbledon is definitely his best chance as there is zero grass competition currently on the tour. Berretinni is a bum.

I don't think you understand the implications of this loss. The aura has been shattered. This was not even a close match. It was a straight sets beat down. The others will take note and have more belief against Djokovic in the coming years.

I can't favor him based on one match where there was an insane amount of pressure on Djokovic, who went through a much tougher draw than Medvedev. Age is a real thing, i agree, but these fast courts offset some of it and there's a chance Medvedev will be the fatigued one next time they meet. Djokovic from the SF would have at least taken it to a fifth set, don't you agree?

Medvedev and Zverev are in their peak physical prime right now. Djokovic has been scraping by Tsitsipas, Zverev and Thiem by the skin of his teeth these past couple years. I think next year Novak declines further and the younger guys become too much. 35 years old is ancient for a tennis player despite Djokovic’s superb treatment of his body. I think Djokovic only wins Wimbledon next year.

Which is the magic slam?
I hope and think never. 20-20-20 is the end of big 3. Nextgen can smell blood. He does not have the aura of invincibility anymore. And he has the crowd support now which is a baggage for him. He always played his best when he had an axe to grind i.e. to prove a point. That's not the case anymore.

Sounds like what so many posted after RG20. And how did that go?
