Which Prince Synthetic Gut or other cheap string do you prefer?

I've been looking at some bargain strings that are locally available (but feel free to make any suggestions you have).
I've heard alot of good things about Prince Synthetic Guts, so I'll probably give them a go.
Anyhoo, which do you prefer?
Prince Synthetic Gut Duraflex?
Prince Synthetic Gut Original?
Prince Synthetic Gut Multi?
Prince Lightning XX?

I was think either Duraflex 17 gauge or Original 16 gauge. Which is better overall, and which one is more durable?

What other cheap(ish) strings (up to $15 dollars) do you recommend?

I used to play Syn Guts for years. There are different manufactures like Prince, Wilson, Babolat etc. They're all pretty similar and for the buck you can't get a better string.

The duraflex plays a tiny bit stiffer than the original. The original Syn Gut is still a great string.

Naturally the 16g is going to last longer.
17g in the mains should last you about a set so you'll need a lot of rackets.
18g will last about 20 min. but it'll feel great!

For more feel you can put 16g in the mains and 17g or 18g in the crosses. You'll still break the mains first.

Some people say that the different colors play differently but I don't believe it.

what are you looking to get from the strings?

i use 16 g duraflex, but my coach uses 18 g, because he likes the feel more. but you need to tell us what you want out of them. and 15 bucks puts you in the multifilament range :).

One more thing: If you have 15 bucks to spend, put the Babolat VS Tonic+ 15L in the crosses and Syn Gut in the mains.

Tonic+ sells for $25, half set: $12.50
You have $2.50 for a half set of Syn Gut which is easy to find.

The VS Tonic+ is a great string, still better than most of the other premium Natural Gut of the other manufacturers.

Get some string savers and put them in your back pocket, put them in where you see the cross strings start to 'fizzle'.

I don't think you can get a better string job for the money than a hybrid with natural gut.

It depends how much longevity you want.
I think the original post asked for a string that was around $15 and had some kind of longevity.
Gut in the mains would certainly feel and play better but it won't last long.

We used to play the Prince Pro Blend Kevlar 16g in the mains and Nat. Gut in the crosses. The Nat. Gut would break first.
Kevlar is just a killer for the arm. I think Ashaway makes a thinner Kevlar reel at 17g and 18g that would be a bit better.

I recently was searching this forum on Prince Synthetic and found many threads.

I like POSG, and I currently have Prince Tournament Club (also syn gut) which is just as good. Both are cheap.

PSGD 16G, I like the crispness of it. Good durability as well. Its not too stiff, but I play with a relatively flexible racket, so I'm sure that helps.

So the main difference between POSG and PSGD is the stiffness and durability?
Is it a huge difference?
Are there any other significant differences?

I don't think it's a huge difference but it's there.

As a general rule, anything that makes a string more durable takes away feel/playability. It's a natural trade off.

I don't think there's a huge price difference between the two so pick the one you like better.

If you like a softer feel, with good spin potential--and don't break your string often too--you might find Wilson's Synthetic Gut Extreme to your liking.

I get my strings from uatennis dot com. Poly mains and 15l guage multi core synth crosses. $6 will give you string for 2 jobs. Love it.

Does anyone know if Prince Synthetic Gut Multi is significantly better than normal PSG Duraflex or Original?
If it is, is it worth the extra money?

I like the Prince synthetic gut original in 17 gauge cant beat that string for the money. Also the Tecnifibre synthetic 17 gauge feels softer than the Prince.
