Which racquet does Donald Young use?

During Donald Young's match yesterday, the announcers mentioned that Young switched racquets from Head to Prince because his coaches wanted him to use a racquet with more power. Does anyone know which Prince racquet Young is using now? Is it powerful?

It's a Head under the Prince PJ, or so I've heard. Also, coaches means mommy and daddy, right?

its definitely an prince exo3 tour 100 but i can't tell if its the open or closed pattern. Haven't sat to count the strings. A pic i saw not long ago also suggests hes using the hole grommets too.

I'm sorry if I missed the sarcasm. It is the internets afterall. But in case there was no sarcasm... You did see the big-*** EXO3 holes in the frame... Right?

He's using the open 16x18 pattern.

That is surprising. I guess he likes the spin that open pattern provides. he's been hitting his forehand like Nadal lately so i suppose it makes sense. Also those EXO holes in the frame provides more control as well. i think it has to do with Dwell time.

I just hope one of these EXO rackets are Great serving rackets. They are great for groundies and volleys but when it comes to Serving, they are Weak.:???:

Yeah I have heard that as well..it is too bad if so because a stick that could rival the aeroprodrive with such a low flex is appealing.

That's a shame. It seems to my amaturish eyes that the serve is one of the things that Donald could use the most improvement on.

It's funny, I heard JC say, when streaming Young's last match, that "DY could serve 130mph if he wanted" "I think he's just scared to do that"

I wonder if that's true.

Truth few years back when he played James Blake at the USO he was booming serves in the 130s

I have yet to swing a racquet that is stock weight, without making adjustments to it and call it a 'great serving' racquet. With the exception of 2 or 3 frames.

Everyone is different and enjoys different specs.

In it's current form, my exo3Tours are outserving (both in consistency, spin and pace) my customized PresMids.

Good thing these frames are so soft... they really take to the extra weight.

I dont even get your point. The point I was making is that the racquet is not considered a great stick for serving. If I get a demo I will post my impressions as well. It's ok, I had a pure storm tour that was great, not really a great serving stick. TW reviewers did not like the stick for serves as others I have read..I still am sure it is just fine..and I know it is a very unique racquet that apparently hits very big.

If it serves better than a Prestige, then I am buying one and switching if the groundies are good. I seriously doubt that, but I don't lead up my sticks either..I like them lighter, and they serve just fine.

That is simply not possible. Exo3Ts hit like a wet noodle and the mid serves massive ball even in stock form. No comparison there.

Agreed... in stock-form there is no comparison. The PresMid serves better hands down.

But I said.. in their current form...

I served side-by-side today... just because I miss my Mids some days...

They are both right around the same static weight... 12.7-12.8oz. .. the PresMid is 7pts.HL and the exo3Tour is 5pts.HL.... The PresMid is right around 350sw and the exo's are 360.

Again.. I KNOW I posted in it's current form.. meaning customized... it is blowing the PresMid away on serves.

I haven't seen him play in a while, but it does seem like he's hitting with more spin--maybe from the racquet, but also it looks like his swing path has changed to be a little more spinny. I think that's good--especially for a lefty. In the past, I don't think he's taken full advantage of being a lefty. If he can develop a high-bouncing crosscourt forehand, I think it will help him.

Well... that would be a problem then... if you're anti-lead and silicone... stick to your current frames if you want 'pop' on serve.

If The Donald wins against Murray at the U.S. Open; I will sure look at buying the Exo Tour 16x18 racket!

If anything; it will tell me - "never give up on yourself" during play and that will be worth more then any racket can provide for me to my game and in life!

Comment guys, still discussing strings? There were at least two professional tour stringers that confirmed in this thread that they strung Young's frame with Tour Bite. Oh, but you read otherwise on stringforums? jazar and drakulie are definitely wrong then !
