It's interesting to see certain people voting for Djokovic who aren't actually Federer fans, I wonder why that is

I like Nadal better as a person and in terms of game style.

But Djokovic is clearly the better player over the years, and across surfaces, so it if Fed is not going to hold the record, it should be Novak.

I consider players born in the 2000s as 'NextGens'. The 90's-born mugs are the 'LostGens'.

okay so the Zverev Medvedev Shapovalov used-to-be-called-NextGen is now LostGen as well. I wish for us to not have to extend this term onto tennis players born in early 2000s

its obvious Djokovic is better so him. Nadal has a clear advantage though, since he can actually play 4/4 majors.

Would want Nadal to win the race by 1-2 slams, so that there's NO clear cut GOAT!!

Thats what these tennis greats deserve.
They shouldn't be rated above or below each other based on tiniest of margins.

Federer fans would probably hope for Nadal since you can atleast pick apart things about his career. And could also use the argument Federer is ahead everybut clay. If Djokovic wins the slam race (which also guarantees he winds up several plus slams over Federer at minimum), good luck coming up with any kind of objective argument that Federer should be ranked above him. It is hard enough as it is with Djokovic already ahead in slams given his very balanced career and success across the board.

Hopefully, Djokovic wins the majors race. Aside from his historical standing as "best of the rest" (i.e., those who did not win the Grand Slam), he will be the most bitter pill to those who complain about his personal health choices (and know nothing about his health status, needs, etc.).

Aging isn't the same like in Pete's day. Nadal/Djokovic are still dominating every slam at 36
"Pete's day"? Fed and Pete played each other and Agassi who was Pete's contemporary continued to play. Pete's day overlapped with Fed's day.

The fact that Djokodal are still dominating speaks to the giant steaming pile that is the nextgen more than it speaks to how great a couple of broken down geriatrics are. And the fact that Nadal is still capable of beating a much healthier Novak speaks to Nadal's greatness.

The GOAT rankings are pretty easy.

Fed/Nadal tied, imo.
Novak a close second (or third depending on how you look at it).

Don't be silly. Pete is 10 years senior to Fed. Agassi was the exception, not the rule and that because he stepped away from tennis for a while. The median age of players has gone up 4 years, not stagnated. Tech and nutritional and recovery methods of Federer's time were and are far superior to the 90s. Pete got injured at the Open in 94 because of a poorly made shoe he was wearing. Can you imagine that happening to Fed? Pete collapsed after winning Davis Cup in '95. You think with today's medicine that would happen to a world #1? He threw up on the court at the Open in '96 and so on.

The physicality and power of the 90s are the same as today. The ability to recover and preserve the body to keep going are different. That's why Pete went down at 31 and why Fed can keep on close to 40.

Djokovic, but I care 0,1% less every day. If the records stands at 23 or 24 even the GOAT debates will never end and all of Nadal, Djokovic, Federer will still be blended together as a trio as the numbers will be too tight.
No. It's been accepted by everyone bar the fanatics in denial that it's between Nadal and Djokovic now. If it goes to 24 we're looking at a 4 slam difference. A player 4 slams behind is an also-ran in that scenario.

In all honesty I just want a close and fair Slam race until the end, no matter who will win. Of course this means really open tournament for everyone, and I'm not only talking about the vaccination nonsense, but also about excluding Russians. Because any Slam win without anyone else being present will raise doubts of credibility, no matter how big the other's chances may have been.

And I would like this race to continue for a few years. Because since I have accepted that Federer will end in third place, I don't care if the others will win 2 or 10 Slams more than him. And after they retire, tennis is done for quite a long time anyway. So may it continue for a while and end with a fair winner.

Once again, there's no "EVERYONE'. And if anyone is a fanatic it's someone who gets involved into GOAT discussion on a daily basis. Do something productive with your life.
Try to cut out the personal abuse. If Federer fanatics stop posting desperate threads and posts making the absurd claim that the third best player of the last twenty years is the best player of all time there'll be no need for me to post any replies to them.

I look forward to the day Federer stops trying to fool his sponsors and admits he's retiring. Then this nonsense will be in the former player threads where it belongs.

That's why we all voted for Rafa.
It's still fairly even. Although it's funny to see the fairly obvious shift from the majority of Fed fans saying they would be more okay with Djokovic surpassing Fed than Nadal back in 2019 (when the count was 20-17-15):

In 2020 there was a noticeable shift already when the threat Djokovic of doing became more real (20-19-17):

Just because you disagree with something doesn't mean that it's absurd, bore.

Definitely Nadal. There is no deserve, but in my mind there should be. Just been a great representative of the sport, sportsmanship, and a very solid role model. Djo may well get the slam race and stats, but he has been none of those things that make him a sportsman, champion, or GOAT to me.

Tbh much of the Slam Race has lost its sheen due to Federer’s abrupt end to his slam career and due to the unarguably woeful field, which is possibly the worst it’s ever been in the open era.

No Federer fans care about the slam race. They all want to see good tennis but unfortunately the quality of the game has been abysmal in the inflation era.

Only obsessed Nadovic fans care about the slam race

I've said this many times but I want Novak even though I prefer Nadal as a player/person.

If the slam race is to decide who is GOAT, then I want Novak because I think his overall career is more worthy of going down as the GOAT than Nadal's is. For all my gripes with Djokovic, the man has done absolutely everything. His resume is insanely well rounded. Only thing he's missing is the crazy fluky Olympic medal due to only being every 4 years.

Big Pharma/ big tech posterboy or the people's champ? Easy choice for me. Even if both fake injuries, take eons to serve and their game bores me to death.

It is logical for Federer fans to hope for Nadal to win the Slam race , because Federer has Other achievements which can be compared to Nadal and hence Federer will get an equal recognition whenever there is GOAT debate .

Federer is greater at 3 Slams compared to Rafa ,
Fed has 310 weeks at Number one , Rafa has 210+
Fed has 6 WTF , Rafa has 0 .
Fed has 11 Harcourt Slams , Rafa has 6
Fed has 8 WB , Nadal has 2 ( and WB is most Iconic tennis tournament)
Rafa has also not won all Masters , same like Fed . So they can be compared there as well .

But if Novak wins the Slam race , then Federer will be left far too behind Djokovic in terms of achievements .

Djokovic has been the real successor of Federer's all court prowess and consistency .Infact , Djokovic went up a notch when it comes to these two aspects . He has become a master of all courts .

If there are no enmity between Federer-Djokovic , most Federer fans would have stood in Djokovic's corner as Djokovic has been the one to consistently reach finals of slams and masters and WTF back to back to back .

Just because of their personal grudge , both fan bases kinda warmed up to Nadal .
Fed himself would have been proud of Novak's consistency for which he was known for .

People may think of Rafa, since Federer's rivalry with Novak was so bitter and disappointing on all levels (personal, tennis, fanbase). In spite of it all, I tend to believe Fedfans want the race to stop right there. At 22-21-20, it's still manageable to argue his style, "weak era", age. But if it gets up to 25 even 30, then its gone...

No one wins, better so...

This myth made up by some Federer fans when they realized Nadal in RG will become a better player than Federer in Wimbledon should stop already. In the last few years Wimbledon is without doubt the worst slam, with the weakest competition.

Nadal deserves way more credit for his career than he gets here. He won 22 slams despite skipping 4 years of his career due to injuries, while Djokovic pretty much never had injuries. (Only some "magic injuries" which only made him play better and win the title) Also, RG organizers suddenly changing the conditions, making them terrible for Nadal and absolutely perfect for Djokovic is terrible. Before that, Djokovic could only win this slam with an extremely weak draw.

That means Nadal is the worst player on Grass and Wimbledon because Nadal hasn't reach Wimbledon Final in 11 years during the weakest competition .

Well said :-D @StrongRule

If he had Djokovic's recent draws there, he would definitely have chances to win more titles. He beat the same Kyrgios in 2019. Sadly, he had to do that in the second round, not in the final.

Rafa himself said he can't beat Krgiois and Djokovic back to back and decided to go to Spain rather than competing .. Lol haha

With an injury he can't. Djokovic is extremely lucky with his health though, and only has to face Berrettini and Kyrgios to vulture Wimbledon titles.
