Who owns tennis court here?

Me and my friend decided to make a couple at least on the outskirts of my city but that idea will have to wait until we finish the house which is on the property. ;) It will be sweet when its over.

Maybe the question should also be which tennis players had one while they were growing up. I know Verdasco had two in his backyard, HC and thats part of the reason he can rip a forhand as he can - he used to play a lot on hard and not only on clay when he was learning ! ;)

There's a house a few blocks over from here with a nice hard court next to their house (they have a double lot). Unfortunately, it's used as extra parking space. I die a little inside every time I pass it.

This guy describes the whole process of having one built!

I have a b-ball court in my backyard, no tennis though.

Full basketball court or just half/street ball type court ? Full is great providing you have friends to play 5 on 5. I tend to like this much more than 3 on 3 on one basket, a lot more running and counter attacks involved makes the game great.

Ps - its not that hard to make a tennis court, there are even ATP certifid companies which make them for pretty cheap money over here, you can even choose a surface, but concrete is def the best for backyard of course - low mintainence.

lol same with near me. the people near me have a nice syn grass court, but its never EVER used. i always walked past it on the way to my local courts, and nobody ever plays tennis on it. ive only ever seen it being used when their dogs are on the court and the kid there is playing basketball on it.

Neighbors had one as a kid, nice too, fully lit, fenced in the woods. We could use it whenever we wanted, unfortunately I didn't play as a kid so I think I hit on it maybe twice.

hah- how we don't appreciate things around us growing up! I at various points growing up lived within walking distance of a beach, but didn't really go that often. Now that I am older, we take vacations to get to the beach!

I live on a property that boasts some of the sweetest and perfectly maintained har tru courts you'll ever see in your life, just truly wonderful and amazing courts all around. And I didn't play more than 3 times in the first 10 years I lived in the complex... Just started really playing in the last 2 years or so... Also lived near free courts in L.A. for five years where one can play year around, and never played then either.

I would be like a 7.5 instead of a 3.5 if I had taken advantage of all those opportunities to play...

I never really thought I'd like a house with a court until a guy I hit with described his dream of being able to invite tennis friends over on Sunday, and playing round robin doubles with some drinks, some music, some BBQ, come and go as you please. It sounded pretty good. I'd just like a house nice enough to invite people over to watch Grand Slam finals in HD.

That's insane.
It's even worse than the beautiful fenced in hardcourt in someone's back yard a few blocks from my place that I've only seen being used for basketball.
I've never, ever seen anyone playing tennis on that court - and I've looked quite often.
We even knocked on their door a few years ago and offered them $50 from each of 10 people for the right to play on their court for the summer, without bothering them.
They just told us to go away.

What a waste.

This is an odd post to me, 35ft6. You're a tennis buff. You like to play, watch, and talk about tennis. Yet it took someone else describing why they wanted their own tennis court before you realized that maybe having your own court wasn't such a bad idea after all?

This stoner where i grew up had two courts. one was grass which used to be in pretty good shape the other was clay. I think once his daughter moved out and started selling christmas trees and turtles he got rid of one of them. now he got one court but its like a dirt court now even.

There a few people around me that have courts on thier land. some even indoors. Thats what retired government workers do with 5 acres of land and no mortgage. Maybe one day I will have that luxury. then i will probably use it to park my cars or something :)

That is the kind of weekend I like to enjoy.

Tennis rules my life in many ways, it is my job as well as my hobbie, i spend many hours on court and it is often very windy and rains often here i dont want to miss out so i have a court that takes care of that

I see a Wimbledon towel. You're Andy Roddick. Oh, and Australian Open banners too. Maybe you're Leyton Hewitt.

What is your job? I'm already 37, but I want to be like you when I grow up :)

Impressive! I never play on an indoor court before, love to test drive your court.

If you live nearly L.A. definitely like to have some hitting sessions with you if you are good. My groundstrokes are smooth like the pros, more like Lendl's FH, and Federer &Gasquet's BH. Volley and the serve are decent, good enough to allow me to serve &volley the whole match few years ago when I was in better physical shape. Still can do, but more contend to stay back to hit winners now. :)

No the photo was taken before the indoor court was built. The indoor court is in a 35 metre by 17 metre purpose built shed.

Nice, is that a clay court?

Yes it is, 90 % of the courts in Belgium are clay, it's so friendly to play on, great comfort, you can slide, doesnt go too fast,

It has some bad sides too, it's dirt, especially when it's humid or rainy, in the winter (when it freezes) you can't play on it, and every year the maintenance
