I know Nadal is king of clay, but it is crazy visually just looking at a list how dominant his name is:
For women, there hasn't been a successful defending champion since Justine Henin in the mid 2000s:
Sharapova and Serena came the closest, maybe Halep too, but FO seems to be where WTA players most often grab their maiden slam. Who do you think will be the next to win two in a row? If it happens in the next few years, I think Barty is most likely if she can make deeper slam runs. If it doesn't happen until later this decade, I think it will be Swiatek or Gauff. Anisimova could also be a dark horse...she shows good potential on clay with a build and playstyle similar to Sharapova and Muguruza, but she seems to get into mental ruts a lot.
