Who will win more slams..Murray or Wawrinka?

Both are on three majors at the end of 2016.

1) Murray - 3 slams (2 Wimbledon, 1 USO), 8 slam RU

2) Wawrinka - 3 slams (1 AO, 1 FO, 1 USO), 0 RU

Murray has won two slams in two consecutive years, Wawrinka has won three slams in three consecutive years. Projecting that both finish the tour by 2021, that is five years left in their careers.

Murray - 7
Wawrinka - 6

Who will win the race?

I predicted both to finish their careers with 3 Slams last year. I previously thought, the new generation will finally rise making things difficult for old players but there is disappointment. Now I can see both adding one or two more titles to their tallies. Wawrinka's problem is he can't bring his best level for more than once while Murray needs to avoid Djokovic and very favourable draw like Wimbledon. I think it all depends upon how Djokovic plays next season, if he continues to dominate - Murray won't able to add any while Wawrinka can win with or without Djokovic - so there is no problem for him. But if Djokovic's dominance level drops, Murray with his consistency will be biggest beneficiary. He would have won multiple Slams this season if Novak hadn't stopped him. Wawrinka OTOH won't receive great benefit of Novak's fall beyond winning one Slam (that he can win anyway).

These guys are both like 30, and have a total of six career slams between them...and you're projecting they'll more than double that?

Madness.

Well, bear in mind that Stan won his first Slam at the age of 28 years and 10 months and that he's added two since, and you see that he makes a mockery of the so-called law of 28 and a half. He's already won a Slam when older than anyone else apart from Agassi in the past 40+ years, so he's clearly the king of late bloomers.

I picked Wawrinka to win 1 more last year so I'll stick to his current total.

Murray I think has to squeeze out 1 more somewhere and maybe 2.
