Who will win the WTF first? Nadal or Murray?

These 2 are the only players left in the Big 4 without a WTF title. Murray's game seems better suited for this surface but Nadal is the one who oddly enough has actually reached 2 finals, losing both of them to the best indoor players of the last 10 years: Federer and Djokovic, who have gone on to win 9 WTF titles combined.

So which one will win the WTF first? Murray who has a much better game for it or Nadal who came close so many times but without any luck?

Nadal interestingly has beaten Murray in the WTF in 2010 semis in a very tight match. 7-6 3-6 7-6. But that was a pre-slam Murray. But I would probably have to go with Murray. He has a better chance of taking out Djokovic.

Unless Nadal and his camp managed to persuade the ATP to replace hard court with clay, then Nadal will win first.

Nadal will win it. He is too determined not to. Not sure if Murray ever will. He seems to get tired by years end each year. Same as Nadal, but Nadal has that mental toughness to push him over regardless.

In 2010 it was tough to choose between him an Federer. I know Federer is the better indoor player but at that moment they were tied. Both of them went through Djokovic and Murray and bested them. Both deserved to win the title so much that it was hard to pick one. In a way it would have been on of Nadal's greatest title since he would have gone undefeated vs plenty of quality opponents

Have to go with Murray. Nadal trying to win the WTF is starting to remind me of Lendl trying to win Wimbledon.

It's like Federer beating Nadal at a major again or in any tournament. It can happen but it's getting tougher. All the all time greats have deficiencies you can point to, but they have much more in the positive column. This is one of Nadal's. Murray is not quite the player Nadal is, so it's not as surprising that he hasn't won it. Nadal has progressed significantly on hard courts over time and he's become better indoors too. Don't ever count that guy out, but I do agree that he may end up never winning a WTF (YEC).

What...I don't even.

It's not like Murray doesn't like indoors, Federer and Djokovic like it even more.
Agree. I actually give murray a chance vs any of them indoors. Actually i doubt federer will even qualify next year so murray will not have to worry about him. I give him a bigger chance of beating djokovic at the WTF than Nadal

Huh? Murray is a great indoor player. Grew up in Scotland primarily playing Indoor.
And Fed grew up on clay. That doesn't mean that is your preferred conditions. Murray likes the elements. Especially against Federer and Djokovic. He doesn't struggle as much as Nadal indoors but he still prefers outdoors.

Nadal because Murray will be a good obedient boy.

As long as the WTF remains indoors on hardcourt, Nadal won't be winning a thing. Therefore, Murray by default.

That's a pretty big statement because Nadal only lost to Djokovic in the final and didn't lose to anyone else, infact he didn't even drop a set to the rest of the contenders. So if Nadal avoids Novak next year, who's gonna stop him?

Get one thing straight people, ONLY Novak stands in Nadal's way of utter domination, noone else is beating him outside of the first week at Wimbledon.

My post was deliberately hyperbolic, but the implication was Nadal can not win the WTF's on indoor hardcourts, particularly if Djokovic and an expected rejuvenated Murray is lurking around.

Ah I forgot, thanks for the correction. But the larger point here is that Nadal was looking unbeatable again at the WTF and was only stopped by Novak so I can't buy into the theory that he has NO chance of winning the WTF. I believe that Nadal will win the WTF if he avoids Novak and maybe Murray(but that is an unknown quantity as of now and they haven't played in what 2 years?)

Ah I see, sorry I didn't catch that. I agree that Nadal's not beating Novak at the WTF and maybe a rejuvenated Murray too but he'll plough through everyone else there imo judging by CURRENT form.

Rafa has shot to win it if he avoids Federer/Djokovic in final. Though it is weakest surface he has defeated players comfortable with indoors like Federer, Murray, Djokovic. This year there will be new blood at WTF obviously weakens chances of winning it for both.

The same here assuming he gets back to form.

Nadal could not do it at his prime, so is much less likely to do it when in decline phase.

Federer almost qualified, while Murray is 7th in race.

As I said previously, I thought this year's WTF had Murray's name written all over it. I doubted after the long SF(v Raonic), but Murray still pulled it off so full credit to him. He was and is on a roll and I think the momentum will carry him all the way through 2017. I hope he gets a 3 slam year, but I doubt it will happen. 2 slams in 2017(preferably AO and FO for career slam) would be great for him.
