The Dark Knight
Legend
Unbelievable !!! The serve and volley stats were high but if you count just the last two sets then it was a serve and volley display ! Nadal the savior of serve and volley???
Wow! TDK is back..I can die in peace now..Yes Rafa was epic last night..
Rafa was a champion in doubles before was a singles champion. That why opponents do not try to bring him to the net. He has very impressive volley skills and great overhead smash.Unbelievable !!! The serve and volley stats were high but if you count just the last two sets then it was a serve and volley display ! Nadal the savior of serve and volley???
Who are you kidding.
Credit where it's due, the guy countered Med 1st serve position brilliantly.
I fully expect Nadal to have cured cancer by the time he’s finished playing

Wow!!!Hey Dark! Nice to see you back
Did you know that if Rafa manages to end the year as #1, he Will be the first male or female to be ranked #1 in three different decades? 2000s, 2010s and 2020s
I fully expect Nadal to have cured cancer by the time he’s finished playing
I root against Nadal, but that doesn't mean I don't respect him. What he is accomplishing is amazing by any reasonable standard. And he would still be hated by you guys .
The opposite. Serve and volley saviour of Nadal.Unbelievable !!! The serve and volley stats were high but if you count just the last two sets then it was a serve and volley display ! Nadal the savior of serve and volley???
Servebot vs servebot. Those awful 90s.Below is a legit serve and volley display. See any difference between this clip and anything you saw last night?
More than Rafa and Med do combined...Yeah . None of them have 19 slams ?
I think he has better hands than Novak and maybe equally good as Federer if he really committed to it.I always did. He prob could be the best of the big 3 if he committed himself to it.
His serve can be really solid but you are right. He has great hands. But if his serve is off it would be hard for him. I think he will do more s&v tho. He is still driven to get better.I think he has better hands than Novak and maybe equally good as Federer if he really committed to it.
But half of S&V comes down to the serve, which he's the worst at among the 3. To effectively S&V you either need immense power (which he doesn't have) or extremely good placement (a la Fed & Novak) to induce full stretch soft contact returns that can be put away.
It would take a lot of work for him to be the best at it.

No need to patronize. I was am a huge fan of connors jmac becker lendl pete and andre. I also listen to what they have to say. Not what i want them to say.
And the haters will complain that he took too long.I fully expect Nadal to have cured cancer by the time he’s finished playing
Really loved his book. Poly definately changed the game. But it still requires skills. Also cahill and others were talking about it during a match at the us open. These guys are more powerful and bigger. If they played the game like the past it would be so unbalanced. It is hard to volley against the speed size and strength of these players. Not patronising at all. You can be a huge fan, but not understand the skills. Since you chose Agassi, these are his words from his book:
People talk about the game changing, about players growing more powerful, and rackets getting bigger, but the most dramatic change in recent years is the strings. The advent of a new elastic polyester string, which creates vicious topspin, has turned average players into greats, and greats into legends. [Coach Darren Cahill] puts the string on one of my rackets... In a practice session I don't miss a ball for two hours. Then I don't miss a ball for the rest of the tournament. I've never won the Italian Open before, but I win it now, because of Darren and his miracle string.
Average players into greats and greats into legends .. if you're a baseliner.

Maybe Stefan can teach him how to play the forehand with a continental grip... so he can lose an FO...Rafa need to hire Stefan Edberg, not Moya!
Go back and find a serve and volley point won by Nadal to the deuce court or Medvedev to the ad court. Not dozens, just one.
Standing 3 metres behind the baseline when an opponent can hit a slice serve to your backhand is gifting the point, it doesn't actually require real serve and volley skills.

It used to be mediocre, but is much better since 2010, and then improved some more later. Mediocre is the wrong word.Honestly it’s amazing that he’s won as much as he has with his mediocre serve
Splitting hairs. It's all relative. He has a mediocre serve for an all-time great player. It used to be mediocre, but is much better since 2010, and then improved some more later. Mediocre is the wrong word.
Mediocre FOR AN ATG. That might even work.Splitting hairs. It's all relative. He has a mediocre serve for an all-time great player.
Nothing any professional tennis player does is mediocre depending on where you set the bar.
