Made an earlier post on Roddick that I might as well re-use now:

One of the biggest reasons that I was an A-Rod fan is because he unapologetically encapsulated all the good and bad of pro athletics.

You want to see work ethic, determination, intensity, willingness to try everything to elevate one's game, all in a guy who's willing to give his opponent full credit win or lose with no excuses? Watch Roddick highlights.

You want to see a dude who takes his competitiveness over the line, acts like a spoiled baby, mouths off like there's no tomorrow and pushes his point relentlessly whether he's right or wrong? Watch Roddick highlights.

Marat Safin. He reminded fans that pro athletes were human, no matter their other endowments. I find it difficult to relate to Federer and Nadal, both are ice-cold under pressure, and are extremely disciplined on and off the court.

Nadal isn't ice-cold under pressure, he is one of the most emotional players ever. Federer is ice-cold, but he is one of the least clutch players. That makes your statement that Fed and Rafa aren't human look ignorant.

I'm a fan of the one and only, the GOAT- Roger Federer. What about you? :)
Nadal - Exciting tennis
Djokovic - Masterful executioner
Ferrer - Fighting spirit
Del Potro - Hard strokes
Dimitrov - All round tennis
Dolgopolov, Kyrgios - Energy and youth

By ice-cold I don't necessarily mean outwardly. I mean in their responses to pressure situations. And Federer one of the least clutch of all players? I disagree, there are people better than him for sure, but he's far from the worst. He doesn't back down in pressure situations. And Nadal is emotional when trying to pump himself up, but he doesn't have meltdowns.

Why do you think so? I watched how washed up Kuerten exposed Fed on clay, how baby Nadal was toying with him, how unmotivated Safin was making Fed look ordinary and most importantly how young Djokovic schooled peak healthy Fed at AO-08, the match was so one-sided that it led Fed into big depression and he got bageled by Nadal at RG and lost Wimbledon.

My favorite is Djokovic, because he proves you can be the best in the world with a very simple game. His strokes are technically very basic, but he executes them masterfully. I typically root for Federer and Nadal to win so they can face Nole. When Nole faces either of them it just brings out the best in both players. I'm pretty indifferent toward Murray, though I respect his game and appreciate his creativity. Some of my other faves are Dimitrov, Hewitt, Kyrgios, Thiem and Rosol.

Look at Nadal's face, does he look like a guy who could be ice-cold or at least calm inside?

Murray mostly because he is Scottish although I like his 'real' emotions. And his mother is so hot.

Wow, thanks for your deep insight into facial analysis. It's not about how he looks, but about how he plays in crunch time. I'm sure you could find images of Federer looking nervous during a match as well, but does that prove he's always nervous? No.

I'm a fan of Rafael Nadal, for a variety of reasons, but primarily because of his forehand, and because in 2005 when mens tennis was threatening to become an obscenely boring spectacle where one guy repeatedly beat up on a parade of headcases, flakes, and no hopers, along comes this kid from Spain, of great sporting stock, with a flair and pomp and energy that reminded me of the double A in his early days (my childhood favourite) and he basically gave the finger to the authority, and proceeded to become one half of one of the great sporting rivalries of the modern era.

For me he made tennis interesting again, he made it a contest again. All his doubters, all the traditionalists all said his game was so extreme he'd be washed up by his mid 20s, that despite being 5 years younger than Federer his career would probably end first (to be fair, that could still happen ) but ten years down the line he's still out there, and setting longevity records.

Rogi!!! When I first started watching tennis, he was at the top of the gameso I saw a LOT of him. Elegant strokes and effortless power with a massive variety of shots were the main reason I took to him. Also liked how different he reacted to other players when he won an amazing point or advanced to a semi or final. I think he can a bit of a cool guy and a dork off the court too!! :D

1. Sampras.
The overhead smash. The flick backhand pass. The running forehand. Oh, and the serve. And the wicked half volley.

2. Nadal.
For beating Federer over...and over...and over again. For the banana shot. For that insane forehand.

3. Federer: Iconic player .Only player I've seen hit this shot.

And this lob against roddick in the US Open.

These two shots to me represent how good he really is.

I'm not a fan of anyone, I don't worship anyone in any field.

But I like the style and personality of Fed the most.

I love tons of other players, higher and lower ranked. A lot of them, I don't want to list them. Fed is just slightly on the top of my list.

But, still even if Fed didn't exist, I would still have plenty left to watch tennis. In the grand scheme of things it wouldn't change that much for me.

well for me it's Murray as I'm Scottish and he's the best Scottish guy around in sport and has been for years.

Outside of him with the other big guys it's hard not to admire Fed for his so so elegant way of playing. He makes it look so easy. I doubt there has been a player in history that's made it look so gracious.

Nadal, I like him and actually pre-2008 wanted him to beat Fed for a challenge but that changed and now I don't want him to. Still think he's the joint-era goat with Fed though and his fight is 2nd to none.

Djoko I think he is well mannered very good in defeat and may well become a tier one great. If Murray doesn't step up I think for thenext two years it's only an ageing Nadal in his his path. And I think Djoko will overall get the better of him. So of the big 3 stroke 4 I like them all.

We've been privileged.

Of the others. It's hard not to like Del potro in particular but also tsonga.

who me? Why is that relevant? I do want him to. In the same way I used to want Nadal to beat federer. I want Djokovic to beat both of them especially Nadal but I like and respect nadal. Only Murray I want above them all. So what? I don't really understand your point.

I don't want the most gracious player I have ever seen (I've watched tennis since late 70s) stripped of his records. I'm not a fed fan though. But I think he's still the co-goat of the era. And djoko may become part of the trinity. and it would be nice if murray could get 2 more slams to make it the golden era it deserves.

Fed. Started randomly watching Wimbledon in 2003 as a 12-year old kid and happened to see his semi-final match against Roddick. Decided that I really liked the sport and how he played it looked so nice. I've been a fan ever since and it inspired me the year after to take up tennis as well.

It is the opposite. I love so many other players that even if Fed doesn't play, I still don't miss that much and enjoy tennis the most.

Tennis has plenty to offer even without Fed.

Maybe you didn't understand.

I'm not an obsessive fan of anyone in any field.

I admire skills from a lot of people, but I don't think they are some gods or something.

I'm not a typical fangirl who can't sleep if my guys lose.

I pretend I'm a worshiper here on TW cuz it makes fun debates :).

But in reality you can say Fed is Rafa's pigeon and I don't even blink. My life isn't affected by results of any player. So, in that sense, I've said I'm not a fan of anyone.

LMAO talk about butt hurt.

We know what has been presented to us and that is what we have to base our opinion off of.

He has been married to Mirka for years and she appears to be happy. If she was not why would she have kids with him on two different occasions?

He brings his family on tour with him. He takes time off from the tour to be with his family during important moments.

You must not be a parent our spouse yourself otherwise you would have a little more perspective.

Despite what image they try and project to the world it would be impossible to hide an unhappy marriage with their level of exposure. You would not see Mirka in the stands at dang near every Federer match and you would not see her traveling the world with their kids.

Back in your hole little troll.

Start da Game the great is a fan of only three players in the order mentioned below......

1. greek god pistol pete sampras - simply the greatest of all time in my honest opinion......just the grace with which he handled all the surfaces in an era of diverse surfaces and competition was just phenomenal......

2. spartan warrior rafa nadal - there will never be a bigger fighter in tennis than this spanish matador......that is enough talking about him, we don't even have to speak about his achievements......

3. clay warrior guga kuerten - having no father, a re****ed brother and a troubled mother......what spirit he must have had to grow up and play such delightful tennis on clay......

I went off tennis towards the tail end of the Sampras/Agassi era and really got very bored during the TMF days then along came this dream guy from Spain and I have been glued to tennis ever since.

That's true for his tennis only. But doesn't his antics bother you?

Come on, even if you are great Nadal fan you can't accept those grunts, butt picking, time violations.

But if I don't focus on those, then yeah, I agree, his tennis is awesome. Also the fact that tennis and this forum would be boring. Imagine Fed with 24 titles.
It wouldn't be any controversy here.
