Why can't Mattek-Sands get a decent clothing sponsorship?

The majority of her success is in doubles, though she's Top 100 in singles. She's a 3-time Slam doubles champ, Olympic gold medalist (in mixed, but still). She's a character and a "free spirit", but not in a bad way. I see no downside to having a multi-billion dollar company providing her with clothes and shoes. It's not going to cost the company much.

I'm not talking about an endorsement where she's actually getting paid to wear a Nike or Asics or Adidas clothes and shoes; but simply a sponsorship - free gear.

She has way too unusual of clothing style and her fashion sense is not exactly marketable to the masses, IMO.

I have utmost respect for her game but her clothing style is, uh, unique.

Doesn't she have a sponsorship with Asics for shoes?

Remember the Leopard outfit ?

She's always had her own sense of style. She's certainly one of the nicer players. :)

But, I always got the impression that her more extreme fashion moments were a direct result of her not having a sponsorship. She could do whatever she wanted because no one was paying for her outfits. So, if she were, say, sponsored by Nike and they didn't have a leopard-print shirt or a skirt with cha cha fringes in production, she probably wouldn't wear a leopard-print shirt or skirt with fringes and not care. I mean, she was wearing a plain white shirt and normal skirt today, so it's not like she is always making an extreme fashion statement. Yeah, she'd probably still wear knee high socks, but so what. And, something like today's flag-print socks actually go over well with audiences.

Yeah, she's definitely toned down her clothing choices of late - which is cool. And maybe it's to perhaps make herself more marketable? Not really sure.

Anyway, I'm sure she does get stuff but I'm guessing she's got endorsements by Babolat and Asics and coupled with her prize money - she isn't doing too poorly.

Plus, she doesn't have to bend to the will of any corporate sponsor to wear what they want to sell. She seems to get her cake and eat it too, as the saying goes.

When I first saw her on TV, the commentator said she HAD a sponsorship, but they dropped her. I forget who it was. She doesn't need "free gear". She makes a TON of $$$.

She dressed like she found her clothes in the garbage bin... after others have gone through it and picked the still wearable items.

Maybe Kanye can sponsor her. And I am serious.

I actually like what she wears on court. Fortunately she doesn't belong to this army of clones that Nike and Adidas equip.

Bethanie has her own unique fashion sense, most of the clothes she wears on court she either chooses as a form of self expression or designs herself. Sure, is it everyones cup of tea, probably not. But this is the same world where Lady gaga can wear a dress made of meat and Victoria Secret models can walk down the runway with big smiley face balloons strapped to their back. Quirky and Unique is in, and sometimes she likes to show that side of herself. Is it strange, yes, but if you've noticed her shes actually accomplished her mission
