Why does Princess of Wales gives both trophies

I remember in earlier days, the dutches of kent and the duke of kent used to award the ladies and gentlemen trophy at Wimbledon respectively.

So wonder why Katherine, princess of Wales gives both the trophies now.
Note: Prince of Wales is also present in the final

The Duke and Duchess of Kent were both tennis fans. I don't think Prince William is
Neither is Kate Middleton a tennis fan.

They gave the job to her cuz Wimbledon has status and they wanted to raise Kate's public profile. She is technically not the right fit as handing over the trophy had been a lifetime post. But in her case I suspect she will not hand over the trophy annually once her husband becomes king — then it will suddenly become "beneath her" to do this.

Both djo and raz bowed to kate as they approached for their respective trophies. This is beyond silly, they are way more accomplished than her if anything. Shouldn't respect be earned than received due to some title the person married into? Anyways the whole thing makes no sense, dunno how she doesn't feel embarrassed there.

Is there any other sport that does this?

Maybe it's an intentional slow transition to a new phase. Princess of Wales seems to be a classy royal who gives the impression she is a good person. There's something graceful about how she carries herself around. I like her.

It is ridiculous indeed.

I read some rubbish on this forum at times. This is another such occasion.

She plays tennis at a decent level.

That I agree. The whole royalty in this day and age is cringeworthy.

Because she is hot, and probably she likes to present trophies and be in the limelight since she is glamorous, that's why.
lol. Seems a PR move , sportwashing royalty, an archaic concept in many places.
call a famous Wimby champ to do the honors as in other slams or just any famous Brit sports legend from any discipline.

I found it hilarious to see her excessive gesturing while she talks to the Ladies champ here. some comments are hilarious as well..below are few:

These royals thinking they're qualified to speak to anyone is hilarious
I was going to jump into comments and ask why she’s giving an elite athlete advice but it looks like everyone else beat me to it!
Person with no discernable skills poses for propaganda pics with dedicated and talented athlete. Interesting juxtaposition. Why did you "choose" her as patron?
As if she knows anything about effort…
My sign-language skills are a bit rusty but I believe she has just declared war on Australia.
The need to be so theatrical in flaring my hands all over the place to seem as though I know what I'm talking about, when in reality, it's mumbling garbage coming out my mouth.
The exaggerated hand gestures come out when she wants it to look like she’s saying something intelligent
Please not the jazz hands
Is that the new Ryanair uniform, that’s great service being told flight home straight after the match
"speaks"......with her hands .

That’s very harsh and unfair. She was empathising about how tough the sport is. Lots of people gesticulate a lot when talking, I know I do. Kate is a very compassionate and caring woman who does a great job as PoW and while I respect people are entitled to be anti monarchy, you’re being unreasonable here which is unlike you

I just feel it's appropriate for a Champ to receive the trophy from another champ.

there are plenty of nice caring compassionate individuals out in the world, do they get to be center stage with others bowing to them? and accompanied by cloying praise from official media for their mere presence!!
I find the hype surprising.

also the gesticulating by such a public personality looked hilarious to me, like the sign language news reporters on TV... no offense meant to you. usually the body language is all studied/controlled in celebrities. Apologies... there was no intention to hurt any sentiment. I was sharing what I thought was a joke

at MC, Prince of Monaco is the chief guest... he is not hyped as the Brit royals, nor are the Spanish royals.

anyway, my comment was in light vein, Brit royalty means nothing to me either way and they stay and flourish , I guess:)

She is the honorary chairwoman of the organization, succeeding the duke of Kent.

Carlos forgot to mention the king of Spain, until reminded.

Since djokovic did it alcaraz followed.
I don't think the ladies finalists bowed to kate.

Just to to clear. I don't dislike the royals. PR move or not, Kate tries to mingle with commoners, ball girls etc. make them feel better, i appreciate that.
I thought as per tradition or logic, the dutches or princess awards the womens champion and the duke or prince awards the mens champion.
Hence this thread

I would say they bowed her because she represents royal majesty. Djoker has been doing this for several years and Alcaraz has a monarchy in his country so he has an understanding of royal majesty.

For the past 20 years until 2021, only the Duke of Kent has been at the ceremonies. The duchess retreated into seclusion. They continue with Kate in the model "One person handing over the Wimbledon trophy".

She is patron of the organization, taking over from the Kents, who are very old. That’s the only answer.

And she’s actually an athlete, played sports in school.

No, she is a genuine tennis fan which is why she took over the patronage of the tournament. They wouldn't have done that if she wasn't interested. Not too sure about her husband but, as I say, he likes to support her.
