why fans doesn 't consider 2014 AO wawrinka vs djokovic match was 2010s biggest upset in grand slam history ?

i still think stan 's 2014 AO run was amazing and outstanding
so novak djokovic only lost one match in 2011 AO ~ 2016 AO ( 39 W - 1L )

that match was this match , 2014 AO QF djokovic vs wawrinka

as a non djoker fan , i am still thanks to stan wawrinka
what if djoker won this match , probably djoker became six straight AO champ

and my qustion is this why fans doesn 't consider 2010s grand slam history 's biggest upset match ?

why people not often talk about this match ?

i think this match was still magical and shocking to watch

and how fans response at that time ?

The match that was instrumental in turning Wawrinka into a Slam champion. Finally beating Djokovic in a best of 5 encounter was the boost to his confidence that he badly needed. After that he was ready to face Nadal, a guy he had never even taken a set from before and then on to beat Djokovic twice more when it really counted.

If only Novak could have known what a beast he unleashed that day when he failed to keep Stan in his place like he usually did.

Because some people here actually watched tennis long before 2014. They realize there's 20 other much more massive upsets just in the 1980's alone.

Same reason people don't rate Krajicek's win over Sampras as the GOAT upset - he won the entire tournament and became a well-established player for some time.

It's certainly one of the biggest upsets of the decade (and underrated for the shock value), but it got one-upped when Istomin did it in 2017. That, IMO, was the biggest upset in history, along with Soderling at RG09 and Karlovic at W03. Istomin was a journeyman before that match, and stayed a journeyman after the match. He just came along one day and beat the 6-time champ and giant favorite to win the title. I remember being absolutely incredulous at waking up and seeing that result; I was convinced it was a really early April Fools prank.

I think the OP is only referring to upsets of the last decade, hence mentioning the 2010s.

That match just defied logic. Djokovic didn't even play that badly, Istomin just played like a seasoned ATG for one match.
I don't think anything in tennis has or will ever equal the magnitude of that shocker.

Krajicek was at least a known threat to top players, he always had a chance at beating anyone with that giant serve of his. Still a huge upset given how dominant Sampras was.

Because seen what happened a year before and at the US Open 2013, it was a matter of time that Wawrinka was going to beat Djokovic, the Swiss being a player who had the weapons to harm (and a lot) the Joker.
Hence, the surprise has not been as great as other defeats of very favorite players who ended up losing with other little-known tennis players or who are classified as journeyman.

Djokovic got away in AO 13 in a match that should have rightfully gone to Wawrinka.

It has been bad karma , he has been losing to Stan in so many big matches after that.
