Why is BOTTOM half of the draw postponed ?

Why are the bottom half guys postponed, so they are playing now ? And that means that guys who go far fom bottom half would have to play at least one time back to back matches in couple of days, while the other guys from the top alf of the draw will always have one day breaks between matches ? If it starts raining today , it will be a real deal problem for all the bottom half guys, and if they do the same as in wimbledon and play scheduled matches before postponed, we will have a really bad tournament ..

Any ideas why this is so or anything ?

yeah it is there tradition....just like wimbledon doesnt have play on middle sunday. French Open starts on a sunday. Aussie open is the only tournament that would follow the normal route.......play then one day rest then play again. They dont have to play back to back matches in a couple of days because after the QF on wed and thurs.....they have friday rest. both semis are on saturday.

The French Open starting on Sunday is not tradition, it was an 'experiment' that started in 2006.

Perhaps a more complete answer is this:

Top Half: 1st round Mon and Tues/ 2nd round Thurs (except Federer/Isner section Wed night)/ 3rd round Sat/ rd16 Mon Labor Day/ qf Wed Sept 5/ sf Sat Sept 8/ final Sun Sept 9

Bottom Half: 1st round Tues and Wed/ 2nd round Fri/ 3rd round Sun/ rd16 Tues Sept 4/ qf Thurs Sept 6/ sf Sat Sept 8/ final Sun Sep 9

with favorable weather, the only players who go back-to-back are the two finalists. you are correct though that should it rain out, lets say Thursday night Sept 6, the last remaining quarter-final...that guy could potentially (if he keeps winning) be forced to play virtually half the tournament (3 of 7 matches) in the final 3 days of a 14 day event.
