Wilson Blade 98 (16x19) Countervail vs Wilson Pro Staff 97 Countervail

Just bought a Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (310)
I think the racquet is heavy to swing that make my forehand too sluggish and too heavy and powerful to control.
I’ve tried Babolat Pure Drive Tour the Yonex EZONE 98 and the Wilson Blade 98 (18x20) (2015 edition) before too.
I think that the Babolat Pure Drive Tour is too powerful that I don’t have enough control. Also It is so stiff that I hate it a lot.
The Yonex EZONE is a nice racquet. However I don’t like its touch and feel and it is having a low stability.
Wilson Blade 98 (18x20) (2015 edition) is is a bit heavy to swing and a bit little of stability
Therefore I am looking for a racquet that is
low power?(more control?)
easy to swing
more control that make me have enough consistency not only on groundstroke but also serve
similar stability and Stiffness
Nice touch and feel

Now I am considering the Wilson Blade 98 (16x19) Countervail or Wilson Pro Staff 97 Countervail.
Which racquet will suit me more? Thx!

I'll try my best to help. Can't comment on the blade 16x19 as I haven't tried it.

**These comparisons are to my Pure Strikes (see sig) which I found played similarly to the older 18x20 Blade I hit before, and I'm assuming specs haven't changed much after BLX.

PS97CV

Pros:
I enjoyed the demo and I really liked how it swung. Relatively easy and not too clumsy for any flick shots, esp. on my 1hbh . Stability was pretty good given how easy I found it to swing (but of course it's no RF, which is a tank in racquet form). Stiffness felt similar, though I'd say my Strikes might have a bit more flex. It's "low powered"/control oriented, but I was able to get pretty good racquet speed to give me the power and spin I wanted, which made serves great. Aim and fire, you got a good serve (as long as you swing to get it).

Cons:
The TW reviews were rather accurate about the stringbed. Groundstrokes when hit off the stringbed tended to launch on me and catch me by surprise. I have a feeling it was the dampening of the CV masking how much power I actually put into the shot at the time. As a result, I was a bit conscious of my swinging on ground strokes: couldn't take huge cuts at every shot out some form of worry that it'll launch. That said, I didn't have this launching concern when serving or volleying.

Subjective:
The feel/touch was pretty good. I hit some nasty drop shots and angles (opponent wasn't happy ;)). However, I preferred the previous gen (no CV) for feel. Still had a "hot spotty" stringbed, but I could tell how the ball came off the string better and dial in the timing and contact point so the launching was less of an issue (didn't notice it as much, felt more confident swinging away at everything). This translated to better feel on volleys and touch shots as well. CV felt rather muted and (on the Pro Staffs) felt like playing it with a dampener in comparison to the non CV (I don't use one, hence my preference).

Overall, a fun racquet. Taking a huge cut with the PS97 CV and watching a perfect winner is super satisfying, but a bit too dampened for my taste.

Hope this helped.

Your experience may vary due to string, spec preference, and (God forbid) quality control.

If you feel that the Vcore pro 97 310g is heavy to swing i really would not recommend the blade 98, as it's swing weigth is heavier than the Vcore pro.

Considering what you are looking for, i would suggest the Head Graphene 360 speed Pro, Wilson Ultra Tour 97 or some of Prince phantoms.

Head Graphene 360 speed Pro is not stable for me... Actually I played with the 2015 edition blade. I think that racquet is heavy to swing but I am not having a sluggish swing.

Now that JoaoN mentions it, the Ultra tour 97 sounds right up your alley. Feels a lot like the classic player frames from what I've heard. Funny that it shares the name "Ultra", Wilson's power-house tweener racquets. :-D

Considering what OP is looking for, i think the ultra tour checks almost every box.

If a 310g racquet is heavy, them why are you trying the PD Tour? The CV Blade 16x19 closely resembles the CV Pro Staff 97, with the usual differences - Blade has more control, is lighter; PS97 has less control, is heavier. The CV makes them feel very similar. It sounds like you're not going to find the right racquet.

I just made the switch from the Blade 98 CV (16x19) to the PS97 CV. As close as they are specs wise, I find the PS97 to be much more stable. I don't know if its the PWS , the 1 sq in smaller head size, or a combination of the two, but it feels so much better to me, and makes me wonder why I keep trying to relive the greatness of the kBlade 93... I've never liked the larger Blades as much as the 93, and never as much as just about any of the various Pro Staffs I've used over the years (with the exception of the Triad 6.0 ).

All that said, from what you've described, I think they both might be too heavy for your preferences...

Played for a while today. I played with PS97 and Blade 98 CV from my friend. I didn't suffer any sluggish swing problem. Or just because some other factor of VCORE pro affect me to have a sluggish swing? Btw, which racquet is more powerful, the PS or blade?

I haven't played with the recent yonex, but I do recall they have a healthy amount of weight in the throat area, giving them a more sluggish feel than the specs suggest. At least that was the case with my old Vcore 95D and a friend's Vcore Tour G 310.

I'd say blade is a bit more powerful but the PS97 isn't far off.
