Well it seems that my honeymoon with the Wilson Crossfire 2's is over. While they are surely one of the best offerings on the market currently, I've developed some pretty bad pains in my forefoot, and the lacing system kind of cuts into the front of my ankle too much... so I'm gonna have to bail on them. I've had this problem with a number of shoes, particularly adter several outings......the forefoot cushioning seems to degrade with time, and my feet pay the price.
I have tried, so far, the Diadora Speedzones, Adidas A3 Accelerate, Nike Vapor Speed, Nike Resolve Max, Wilson Crossfire 2, and NEw balance 1001's. The Speedzones murdered my feet, the A3 accelerates' sole wore out too quickly for the price, the Vapor Speeds suffered from the "heel-popping" syndrome, the NEw Balance were way too clunky....the Nike REsolves so far have been the best for me, although they have very little ventilation, making them a tough choice for summer ball.
Any other suggestions along these lines ? : fairly wide forefoot, medium to medium-high arch, and ample and durable forefoot cushioning, decent ventilation, durable sole, and not too heavy/clunky?
