If Justine and Maria both play their best Justine wins in straights. However Justine cracked under pressure of 2 of her 3 slam finals this year. I hope it does not happen again.
Maria not as powerful as Serena of old for example, or even Davenport in her prime, Justine is very powerful hitter herself, I think their power is similar, and Justine moves way better, is way smarter a player, and has much more variety.
Like I said I hope her nerves dont cost her a slam title for the 3rd time this year.

17 year old "cheap ass" maria beat #1 seed serena at wimbledon. something justine still hasn't done. and maria will only get better. will justine fake an injury tonght.
Let's hope the quality of tennis is better than it was in the semis. If Maria wins against JHH, her self belief will reach new heights. Either way, I think she is going to win many majors as JHH, KC, AM, VW et al. slowly fade away years from now. Hopefully, the WTA will supply earphones to spectators and the TV coverage will tone down the decibel level. I was thinking CBS would make them start the final early so they don't go head to head with the buckeyes v longhorns matchup. A brave move by CBS/WTA? I think not.

I dont think Maria will win many slams in the future. Vaidisova, Golovin, Ivanovic, all have more natural talent then she does. Once they harness it she will be in big trouble with any of them. Who knows who is coming up after them as well.

My impression is that Sharapova is extremely popular with "casual" tennis fans who unfortunately make up atleast 90% of the tennis viewing public. However among "serious" tennis fans is not particularly popular. Henin Hardenne seems to be popular with neither "casual" or "serious" tennis fans.
As for me I cant stand either. I will need a barf basin next to me while I watch this one.

Does anyone else think it is strange that the U.S. Open trots out someone to sing "America the Beautiful" before a women's final between a "Russian" and a Belgian? I know that this is what we do at American sporting events and all...but whatever happened to the freakin' national anthem? I don't remember any of the other grand slams doing anything like that before a final...there was less nationalism present in Australia a few years ago when Hewitt was in the final and weren't they celebrating their 100th anniversary as a country?

That was nasty the way Henin pulled her in. Not sure if she meant to slice that as short as it was (looked a little hesitant as if she thought it might hit the net), but definitely realized the situation and capitalized very well taking the break. Sharapova needs to work on her net game so badly :\

Henin is look real shaky so far. It shows how much this match is all up to Henin though, Maria is playing out of her mind and Henin is playing awful and Henin is still up.
