I think he does, look at his grass results and the consistency there especially last few years and he certainly cold be a candidate if he had an excellent year. I mean literally 60-70% of events are on clay it seems. Switch that to grass and Mahut is is the running.
Best ever performance at Wimbledon was a 4th round. Don't see it.

I agree Simon is a quality top 20/30 player, but that's beside the point. This thread is about the worst top 10 players, and he certainly overachieved to get to No6. To give an example, Philippousis' best ranking was No8, this is someone who made 2 slam finals, made several QFs and won 3 x Masters 1000 and more importantly he beat ATGs Sampras & Agassi at majors/masters on more than one occasion. Now compare that to Simon.

Philippoussis has only 1 Masters title: 1999 Indian Wells. He made 1 other final: 2000 Paris (lost to Safin).

He also won Shanghai and I'm thinking Munich back then was a Masters but I may be confusing it with Hamburg. My apologies.

Shanghai was not a Masters event back when Philippoussis won it in 2003 Back then it was part of the ATP International Series which is the equivalent of today's ATP250s. It only became a Masters 1000 tournament in 2009. Munich was never a Masters.

1999 Indian Wells is the only Masters event that Philippoussis won.
