I have that one. It is really nice. The zip polos( black and blue ones) are way better than that one though. The stitching on the piping itches during play.

the under armour polos are much better

cost me 25 per polo with my pro shop account.

lacoste is french right?

did the french have the pockets in the oil for food scandle?

Old Navy poly shirts are on sale for $8. My USTA t-shirt was free.

Keep spending the money for the logo. Everyone is impressed.

I noticed everyone around here getting into the fad, and decided not to wear mine anymore (or very rarely, and we are talking a LOT of wardrobe here) since lacoste was being transformed from nice euro clothing store with classy clothes to a ton of teens running around with colla's popped. Disgusting.

So, I made my own. Here's what you do: Go to WalMart or your town's equivalent. Go to the clothing department. Purchase what I like to call "Fat Little Boy" polo shirts. They are usually on sale for $2.98 each. They come in a variety of colors and are actually really, really nice. In fact, I prefer them to the lacoste feel and fit. Now, the next step is dire. Take your shirt(s) and go to the craft department. Look for the patch aisle. You will notice WalMart's EXTENSIVE collection of ridiculous sew/iron on patches. I created my own brands, with my own logos where the alligator would be. I have many many shirts like this...several with a goofy looking t-rex that everyone is jealous of. You wouldn't believe how many lacoste-wearers ask me where I bought it, seriously intending to go buy them. Try it out, you'll love it!

So you paid $85 for something that irritates you while serving its intended purpose? Brilliant.

LOL! man! that made me laugh, and YES I was totally thinking about doing this just the other day. I saw plain polos at Wal-Mart with no design, but I didn't know where I would find patches at.

Caswell, have you not figured out yet that you are arguing with teenagers? Brands are everything to them now, but they will eventually figure out the balance between cost and quality.

BTW, I do think the Lacoste shirts look sharp, but there are definitely shirts that are just as nice for 1/2 the price ;)

LOL. I am no teenager my friend. I just don't need input on what is a "smart" purchase for me to make. I know people who can spend $250.00. on a shirt, and do. I certainly could not do that, but if they can afford to do that, more power to them.

Grimmbob and whoever else is talking, you guys need to stfu. You're being ridiculous. "I hate people who wear lacoste due to the fact that they have money! I hate being underprivelaged!" and "Don't make fun of my brand...I want people to see that I have money! I hate poor people!"

Big deal.

Anyway, I checkout out the brand on my blank polos, and they are Faded Glory! For the patches, go to where they have all the fabric and look around the aisles, you should eventually see the embroidered patches. Personally, I'm a fan of the like 6 inch trout. I didn't have the cojones to do that one though.

It says you're not confident enough in yourself or your game that you have to let your clothes do your talking.

I admire expensive items when they're a product of craftsmanship. I wear a TAG watch, for example. That said, 100% polyester is 100% polyester. And your "pimp" $85 shirt was likely made in the same sweatshop by the same 3rd world worker as mine.

Yeah Graham, I went to Wal-Mart today to get some things for dinner, and I saw the shirts (they were faded glory) at about 7 dollars, went to the crafts department and found some logos, most of the were a little pansy-ish, butterflies, flowers stuff like that, which are cool but i'd like a little different. Then I came upon a pack of 3 little red stars, they looked like the best bet to me, I don't think I would have to cojones either to get a big patch. I didn't purchase anything, but i'll keep looking for some embroidered patches!

Correction: It USED to symbolize that. It does not do that anymore with all these ghetto kids running around with them. 95% of the people in my school have atleast a few pink LaCoste polos and they wear them as much as possible.

Now it's become a normalt shirt/polo imho.

I want to support you guys on the Lacoste shirt thing because I feel the spirit of the thread got killed by a few people, BUT -

Please, kids, wear your clothes for the right reasons. I'm all about spending a little extra on myself sometimes to get something that makes me look and feel good (i.e. "pimp" factor...) but I certainly don't buy something to wear just to try to impress other people. Impress people with your character (and maybe with your game!), enjoy your Lacoste for yourself. It really doesn't do anything for anyone else.

zhan, I dig the shirt too :)

Your TAG tells the same time as my cell phone. Or my little brother's iBook. Actually, as the movement wears down, you'll lose minutes a year.

a TAG is prestigeous...
like driving a BMW...
Using cell-phone to tell time is just a sign of immaturity

zhan, please understand that there is no "prestige" in material goods. There are many, many people who have earned no "prestige" in life who wear TAG watches, drive Bimmers, etc., etc... don't be confused by this. I would never tell someone not to enjoy these things, but having certain material items in no way means that one person has more "prestige" or success in life than another.

I'd hate to have to lug my iBook around just to tell the time :p

I have to have a watch. I feel naked without one. The point I was making is that a precision made watch is something that takes craftsmanship. I know that the craftsman who made my watch is a borderline artist, as opposed to the hourly guy putting together a timex. As an engineer, I appreciate that.

It's well known that most clothing is made in third world sweat shops. Often a "prestigious" brand is made by the same person as an off brand. There may be subtle differences in fabric, maybe an extra row of stiching, and of course the most important part - the logo that lets everyone else know your shirt cost a bit more.

I'm not saying no one should buy an $85 LaCoste shirt. If it fits you just so, and you love the way the shirt makes you look, go for it. I'm not attached to the "prestige" of clothing though because it's all pretty much made the same way from the same stuff - if my Old Navy $15 poly shorts fit me better than anything else (and they do), that's what I'm wearing.

Of course, if someone is spending $250 for a shirt off the rack and not one that's tailored to them, then they're more than likely just a sucker :p

Or they just have too much bloody money. Check out a Men's Health magazine. Not many can afford the advertised clothing.

I said little brother, didn't I? You know what a sign of immaturity is? Trying to lord brand names over people and the discussing prices. Too many people know prices, very few people know the value of things. As for driving a Bimmer...I see B*** everyday here in San Diego. Its called a lease. $299/month for a 3 series. Where is the prestige in that? And, yes, if you want to get into it, I own a couple TAG Heuers. I don't think they are prestigious. Caswell stated that he needs a watch otherwise he feels naked without one, I understand him...you miss the weight on your wrist. The kid obviously would feel naked without a shirt. Just as you need a watch, but prefer your TAG, he needs a shirt, and prefers Lacoste.
