Yonex RDS 002 vs Yonex RDS 002 Tour

So I ordered the Yonex RDS 002 Tour, but was sent the non-Tour version, and I'm curious if anyone has been able to hit with the 2 and if so what were your thoughts on the non-Tour? Does it have more power than the tour? How is the tour better or worse?

I'm thinking of maybe just sticking with the non-Tour just cause it seems lighter, but I don't want it if it is too powerful and not stable because of its lighter weight. I'm a baseliner which would like to develop an all court game and likes to hit out on the ball, jump into my shots etc. I've liked the POG Longbody so I'm thinking I'm more comfortable with the heft, and if so then I will ask for an exchange.

BTW, TW was not the one that did the screw up, it was another tennis shop.

Thanks everyone

I know really. It seems as if I am going with the 001 MP though. That is what everybody is recommending in my thread.

Very good choice!! I have one and just got the RDS002 Tour, but the RDS001 MP is definitely hard to beat.

Specs wise, looks like the 002 Tour replaces the Ti 80 and the 002 replaces the RDX 300, without the extra 1/4 inch, as its swingweight is lower and closer to the rdx 300 than the 003, which swings pretty heavy. I would love to hear how the 002 plays and if it has a bit more pop than the rdx 300 (which I almost bought except for floaty slices and a little less pop on serves than I like).

Condiser this, if it is too powrful you can fix that with string tension and type.

If late you want a higher SW or static weight you can simply add lead, they are the same exact racket just less weight.

The bonus is that the lighter version is very very customizable, so it can be just right for you.

I have hit with both. It really boils down to what kind of tennis you play and how much weight you can carry. The 002 Tour is solid, its got some weight and I thought it was a very clean playing racquet. The 002 standard was awfully light for me...a very comfy swing etc but it did not do much work for me...everything seemed to fall short.

Agree with that, Nasty. The Tour is very clean playing. Although I haven't hit the non-Tour, I'm assuming it will be similar to my experiences with other 10.9 oz frames like the Dunlop 300 series, which swung comfy, but required a considerable amount of additional mass to work for me...

What grip size are you talking about? 2 down or 3 up?

Baecause of the weight!!!

Thanks.

??? 2 down...3 up...??? The demo I have is 4 1/2. I typically use 5/8...
In the past, I realize Yonex frames were heavier with larger grip sizes. Is this what you are referring to?

i have the SL grip 3 but wish i had gotten the UL

Why do you say that?

I play with a RD-Ti 80 grip 4, heavy one, (old PJ) and i like it, but i'm feeling the racquet is a bitter heavy for me.

Probably i'll order a RDS 002 Tour grip 2.

Tell me why, please. ;)

I have demoed the 002 tour for a week, in comparison to the 001 mp it is feels a little heavier.I like the feel when hitting with it, very comfy+ solid.I could serve better with the tour, but it was noticably more powerful than the 001 mp.

I have a friend who has one+ we experimented with string jobs to take the power down.In my 001 i use sppp mains at 57 lbs+ tnt proplus 17 g. at 59+ it really turns the 001 into a control racquet. We tried the 002 tour with the same set up + it was still to poweful for my taste.

I was excited about this stick but i am not anymore, i would like to try the ul version to see if that is a little less powerful. But i am staying with my 001 mp,the 002 tour is a nice hitting stick if you like a powerful racquet.

It was not easy for me to tame the power out of my 001, but i did with set up i mentioned. With this string set up not making 002 tour a control stick, i dont think anything will.

tlm,
How's the swingweight? does it feel heavier than 001MP?

Do you feel any different with YONEX AERO-BOX VARI FRAME?

Thanks,

because when i put overgrip on it, it seems to be too big for me...
i think the 1/4 will be better for my hands..
i don't really care about the weight cos i can put lead tapes on

and for the aero-box variframe, They make little to no diff
i think they just wanted to cut away some parts to make the racquet more HL without adding too much weight

Amazing. 24 posts on this thread, and only two (#14 & #15) have anything to do with answering the original poster's question. Do you people read???

Has anyone hit with the NON-TOUR 002 that can contribute some information please?

I would say that the 002 tour does feel heavier than the 001 mp, it swings nice though just a little heavy. As far as the vari frame, i dont know if it makes any difference.

Like i said before it is a nice feeling racquet, a little less harsh than the 001.My real problem with it was not the weight, but the power level being to high.

I tried the Tour002 last night. I was suprised how heavy it swung compared to my RDS001 mid. It was very good on serves but I didn't like it as much on groundstrokes. I also swung with the non Tour002. The non tour 002 was very light compared to the tour version and had alot of power. Personally I'll stay with my RDS001, but I'll freely admit that I didn't have a lot of hits with either version of the RDS002. There seemed to be a big difference between the tour and non tour 002 in both static and swing weight. My doubles partner loved the tour 002. He's upset because he just bought 2 Flexpoint instincts and he said he may sell them and get the tour002. Another Yonex convert!!

I have hit with both. The non-tour 002 feels much lighter and stiffer than the tour version. The non-tour version did produce vicious spin quite easily but the shots didn't seem as heavy. Control was very good with both racquets.

Stock 002 Tour is perfect, no lead required. The non-tour required significant weighting and then became a bit flimsy in the head...

of all the rds line, I liked the non-tour 002 the least. IMO it serves no real purpose. The 002 tour feels heavy (mine weighs 12.6) and has the pro and cons that come with that. It is my favorite. If you don't want the weight, the mp 001 is very sweet too.
