Yonex string tensions

I just picked up RDX500 MP which is out getting strung.

When I got it, I was puzzled that the recommended string tensions are 50-60, instead of 55-65. Apparently this is because my grip size is a little smaller.

Why is this? And should I string it based on the 50-60 range, or 55-65?

i like to know this also since I just bought 2 of them

i generally like to have a high tension since power generation is not a problem but I want control, so i would like to go for th 65 range

Well it looks like I'm going to find out the hard way anyway.

I dropped it off and asked them to string it at 62, but after thinking about it, called them back and revised it to 57.

If it plays out of control, I guess I'll have my answer.

I don't have an RDX500 but my Size3 Ti-80 has the same Recommended Tension range...........I usually get it strung at 57 which was ok, but when I changed to NXT I hit with it like once or twice and it felt as if the tension had dropped to 54/53...........my tip get it at 60 and try thats what I'm going for next...............hope this helps :)

The reduces tension range is related to the grip size. The theory is that someone who has small hands will be smaller in stature and not hit the ball as hard as someone with larger hands. Some people like a smaller grip and then add overgrips which ruin the assumption the range is based on anyway. So there is no problem if you need to go higher than 60lbs.
